The two models I am looking at are Yakima Highroller for the top mount (I have the tower/bars/locks), and Yakima King Joe 2 for the trunk mount.

Is it easy to load the bike on the top mount?
Is the trunk mount secure enough so that someone won't just cut a cable and walk away with my mount?

Does anyone know of a good, durable training tire? Winter is nearly upon us in Australia and i was looking for ideas on winter tires. i have tried Vittoria's and Specialized and have found that they are good for racing but not so good for training or riding in the wet.

Has anyone had any experience with Conti Gatorskins?

Thanks and keep on cycling!!

Last winter I was knocked off my bike by a lorry, at the time I was using really bright red led lights and wearing reflective gear. The atitude what I seem to see get is that many motorist don't seem to give a dam about cyclists. My commute home is on busy country road and I have notice Farm Tractors with flashing amber light. You see them from a great distance so you have time react in a car. A cyclist with red lights, it only a bike and you don't get the same reaction from motorist. So I'am looking at all options for tail lights but the amber led on my rucksack seems a good idea but I don't know if the police are going to think its a good idea. "Some smart alex going to say your a bike not tractor".

I’m a road bike rider and curious about weight in relation to performance. My first question is: on average how much do the tour bikes you see the pros racing weigh?

Also, what’s the lightest bike you can get as a seasonal race bike?

And finally, how much does weight really matter? Say, a 15 pound racing bike (top line components, etc.) vs a 17 pound racing bike with the same setup?

Thanks in advance.

I live across the Hudson in Rockland county and want to bring my bicycle into Manhattan, specifically to Battery Park on a Sunday for a fund raising ride, and don't want to drive in and park. Also, my legs can't take riding all the way from Rockland ;) I was wondering if there are any public transportation options. Thanks!

Im 18 now and have been racing mountain bikes for three years, but I still really suck. I ride about twice a week, but my times never change, and I keep thinking Ill get better with age, but like I said its allready been three years. At what age do you think as far as cycling goes you reach your physical peek and perform your best?

Will a chain wheel with more teeth increase speed
and a chain wheel with less teeth decrease speed ?
or is vice versa or how does it work for speed and strenght
with a chainwheel teeth number ?

Also are mountain bike chains all the same size that fits all
chain wheel teeth or are there different types of chain types or
sizes ?

I appreciate some good advice.

I'm looking to buy a hybrid bike, but I'm a very short woman , I am 5 feet tall and want to know what would be the best option for me. Should I shop around until one "fits" or are their special bikes for short people?

I have aquired two bicycles from my girlfriends dad and we love riding them. Everyone keeps telling us that they are really nice (and expensive) bikes.

So my question is... what makes Trek bikes and Specialized bikes so "nice". What makes them better than the Shwinn bikes you can get, with more features, from walmart, for less than $200?

Would I be stupid to sell them and get cheaper shwinn bikes with more features?

I am a 5'10 woman, looking for a bicycle that would be good around town (Boston area) as well as good for some longer biking trips--such as on the cape, or around New England. I am looking on Craig's list, but am not sure what size and what type of bike I should be looking for. Hoping to spend around 200 dollars. Any advice would be welcome. thanks!

I understand the benefits of carbon components, frames, etc. But is there a difference in the quality of the carbon used in a high-end manufacturers vs. that of a mid/lower level manufacturer?

Also, how durable over time is carbon vs. aluminum vs. titanium (and, yup I know “diamonds are forever).

Just curious.

Thanks in advance.

I have a 40k bike race a week from today. 40k is really not a big distance for me. I didn't know what else to do to get better, so I joined a spinning class two weeks ago. So far, I don't know if it's helping at all. The first class the instructor got mad I was going too fast and getting the stationary bike off the ground, so she set the resistance to maximum, I was able to hanlde it still. I've been going everyday, but I'm not even breaking a sweat during the hour. I'm thinking of taking 2 hours in a row just to get my money's worth.

Did I waste my money? Or are these classes helping some way I'm not aware of?

I don't want to run them in during normal use, but somehow optimise them for normal use. Stiffness didn't seem to be a problem with the old unsealed bearing systems, because they could easily be optimised, with patience!

I am looking into buying a bicycle. My guess is that I will probably ride it less than 30 miles each summer. I live in Chicago. I was checking out some bicycles online, and I am leaning toward this one.

http://www.amazon.com/Cadillac-Adventure-Suspension-Comfort-17-Inch/dp/B000FW2C04/ref=sr_1_1/103-0970984-1150224?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1178641675&sr=1-1

What do you bicycle enthusiasts think? I didn't know Cadillac made bicycles. My initial plan was to spend less than $200 for a bike, but I am flexible.

So please answer:
What do you think of Cadillac Adventure Series AVP2.1?
If you think that's a bad choice, which bicycle would YOU get if you had to spend between 150 and 250 dollars?
