Until a short article on the Today programe this morning, about the Tour de France cycle race taking place in London later this year, I always thought it was a cycle race in France, who else did?

I am still debating my bike purchase. I am not in good shape. I really like Giant Suede W. It is a 7 speed bike. The store could order in the 21 speed version. I don't like the colour of the 21 speed. I want to know if I can get by with 7. I asked a bit about this before but now have more information on the actual hills. The main ride with hills would be to and from work. It is 2 km of rise and fall. I figure the dips will at least let me get some speed for the hills. The biggest hill is 0.2 km long. The grade is about 6% with a high of about 10% near the top. Of course, going the other way, it will be mainly downhill. Do I really need 21 gears for this? Also, I understand the Suede W is made so that the low gear is more suitable for hills that you might expect for 7 gears. I am not exactly sure how this works. Maybe it has to do with the size?

I have never been taught how to ride a bike. My parents don't know how to ride a bike. My friends, crush, and my classmates know how to bike. It looks like it's easy to learn but I don't know how. When my friends ask me if I could go bike riding with them I would have to tell them how I don't know. It's just sad. I can't stand it anymore. Please help me.

There is not much info out there on this bike, and if there is I am to dumb to find it. If any one has ever even seen one before that would be helpful. Some of the things I would like to know would be, how big it is (about) length wise, and if it really looks good or not. Also if it is easy and comfortable to ride would be good to know as well.

Thank you.

SADLY, I AM AN APARTMENT DWELLER NOW. I HATE TO HAVE MY BIKE OUT IN THE RAIN ALL SUMMER. BUT I HAVE SUPER FUSSY NEIGHBORS AND THE MANAGER AND I BOTH FEEL THERE WILL BE COMPLAINTS IF I COVER IT WITH SOMETHING. DOES ANYBODY HAVE AN IDEA FOR PROTECTING THE BIKE? ALSO MY SEAT IS A NICE EXTRA SOFT FABRIC AND I DOUBT IT IS WATER PROOF. If i take the seat in i worry about rain getting into the pipe

Is there any true benefit to having your front and rear derailleurs match? My CAAD 9 came with 105 components and the added benefit of an Ultegra rear derailleur.

A racing friend has an extra Ultegra rear derailleur that he gave me. It fits the specs for the bike, etc.

Should I bother replacing the front derailleur? Would there be any payoff – faster shifting, weight.

Thanks in advance.

I'm 6' 1" tall and about 200 lbs...please help. These people online have all told me I would fit comfortably on their bikes w ith the frames ranging from 21" - 26"??? I think they are just trying to sell their bike to some sap :)

My wife’s flat bar road bike was stocked with a hybrid tire – minimal tread, 80 PSI. I’m thinking about getting her more “road tires.” Still a bit wide, but 110 PSI and smooth.

Will the additional 30 PSI and lack of tread make a difference? More effecient on the road?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 2003 Airborne Zeppelin (56cm) with full Shimano Dura-Ace components (triple up front), Mavic Ksyrium Elite Wheelset, Look carbon fork, FSA headset and SPD pedals (can't remember the model but they're Shimano). It's a Ti frame and the whole thing weighs right around 18 lbs. It's an awesome bike and I have unfortunately put less than 300 miles on it since I've owned it (I'm the original owner). My dreams of putting miles down on the road just never came to be as I am a mountain biker at heart and all my buddies ride on the dirt. So I'm going to sell it to help pay for a new Mountain Bike.

Except for a few scratches on the pedals this thing is mint. What would be a decent price to ask for it?

I looking to upgrade my forks on my bike. It's a Raleigh M80...yea yea I know but I like the frame and I'm content on keeping it. My current forks are Manitou six and I like them but I'm looking at other Manitous, Marzocchi, Rock Shox (Tora, Recon) and trying to find what the main differences is. Is having adjustable travel a big deal? I definitly want lock out and want to stay under $350. What is a good fork for under that price that will lock out for the road and will keep up with the moderate trails I hit up?

I'm looking for somthing in the 150-250 range. Also, durable tires if possible to go on a somewhat rocky road.

I got a new chain. I counted the links on the old chain and sized the new chain accordingly, but when I tested out my bike I think the chain started slipping on the gears. (it makes a cranking sound especially when im doing inclines) Is there a way I can tell if its on tight enough? Should I take off one more link? Or is it something other than the new chain (like the way its strung on)?

I'm a first time cyclist and I need some good advice on how much air I need in my tires for my mountain bike. My tires say 50psi but even my tire gauge for my car doesn't go that high. Little background info: I'm about 225lbs, 6ft tall and plan on riding it to work (mostly streets, some dirt) about 10miles one way.

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone tried this? Did it work for you? How did you do it? Anyone tried one of the poles that extends from your bike that you leash them up to? I have a Smooth Fox Terrier with tons of energy and could never run it out of him (I would never be able to keep up and I highly doubt anyone could) just wondering if this would be a good exercise for us both.
