Save and spend at least $300 if you want to get your money's worth. Go to a reputable bike shop in yur area, get fitted, tell them what you want to spend and have them make suggestions. They will be able to fit you on the best bike for your body and your budget. Fit is CRUCIAL!!!

250 is a pretty low max price. try saving some more and going for a cyclo cross bike. check performancebike.com or go to your local shop and see what they can offer you. cyclo cross bikes are similar to road bikes with more offroad features.
