I have never been taught how to ride a bike. My parents don't know how to ride a bike. My friends, crush, and my classmates know how to bike. It looks like it's easy to learn but I don't know how. When my friends ask me if I could go bike riding with them I would have to tell them how I don't know. It's just sad. I can't stand it anymore. Please help me.

I'm 12. I know how to swim, karate, and piano but I don't know how to do cartwheels, bike, or even handstands.

-rememeber that you use your body to balance NOT your handlebars.. just keep them completely strait..
-put one foot up on your pedal..
-lift your other foot up as you start to push with the foot on the pedal.
-just keep pedaling, don't really worry about the balance the moving wheels going forward will keep you up

(Have you ever noticed if you push a wheel or even a ball completely strait and how it doesn't turn side by side but just completely strait as long as it is strongly moving forward...well that's the idea on the bike.)

Is there a bike shop in your area? Most will teach you in the parking lot for free. We had a 37-year-old woman come in the other day who had never ridden a bike in her life. She came in, got fitted, bought a bike and said "now can you teach me how to ride it?" She wanted to ride bikes with her 5-year-old daughter so she learned how in the parking lot. It doesn't take a lot of time, just balance and you have to let go of the fear. Be prepared to fall and get back up. It's just like anything else. I say go to the bike shop and ask if someone will teach you.If not, ask your friends. Afterall, what are friends for?!

Good luck!

First sit on the seat with your feet planted firmly on the ground, and your hands on the handlebars. Put one of your feet on the pedal and push forward. Immediately put your other foot up onto the other pedal, and push forward with that foot, also. Try to keep your balance. Start off slow, don't feel like you have to go real fast. It will take a while, but eventually you'll get good balance and the hang of everything. Know when to use the brakes and use common sense. Good luck.

I learned by going to the top of a hill and riding my bike down, dangling my feet over the ground. I didnt touch the pedals, just got used to balancing, and used my feet to prevent crashing. I also just tried to ride. You fall a lot, but thats how you learn.

Get some training wheels and find a nice park on an early morning when there is not a lot of people around. Try it out and then get someone to help get the wheels off to go all the way...good luck...c

Ask someone to help you. Go on the grass with your bike seat as low as it can go. Try to work on balance without pedaling first. the on the downhill glide, slowly add the pedaling into it. Good luck!

get it in grass, hold the bike straight up with your right pedal up if your right footed. be seated and push down followed by pushing down with the other foot. keep trying to pedal. eventually you will get it and learn your balance like that. once you learn to pedal youll be able to steer and brake. keep practicing youll get it
