There is one problem. All tracking devices need a power source. That means you'll have to have a battery on the bike to power it. Since most of these tracking devices are made for cars, that means you need a 12 volt battery.

Where are you going to stick a 12 volt battery on a bike, then have it attached to a tracking device that won't be noticable to some who would steal it?

Another problem, the subscription fee - once a month - that you need to pay to the company that has the equipment to actually track the bike. This is a network of antennas, transponders, receivers, and computers. You wouldn't be able to by all this stuff, and you need an advanced engineering degree to build if you _could_ buy it.

There are cellphones that can track users, but again this is a subscription service, and you would have to buy the phone, stash it on your bike, and keep the battery charged. Are you prepared to by a cell phone and pay a fee for phone you will never use?

All in all you're looking to spend more money on a tracking system than your bike is actually (probably) worth.

Here's a suggestion - buy a lock, and try not to leave the bike anywhere it would be a target.

In mi opinion:
A combination of two good locks, (one rigid), and a good bike insurance is a cheaper better bet.
