I have a Trek 4300 and while I’m riding the rim moves back and forth and hit’s the brakes I know the rim is not loose. Does this mean the rim is bent if so what do I do to fix it?

When I was growing up we didn't have "bike helmets," and we didn't need them. Doesn't it seem like if a kid is riding in such a way as to genuinely risk head injury, that the thing to do is change his riding habits? Kids wearing bike helmets just depresses me. What do you think?

Almost every wheel I have ridden either starts getting too hard to keep true, or the rim cracks around the spoke nipples. I am trying Ksyrium SLs at the moment. I ride 150-200 miles/ week on well paved roads.

I haven't rode my bike since it broke and I was wondering if I rode my new bike like 30 minutes a day(thats my minimum amount by the way) will I lose some type of weight. My mom encourages me to ride it and I get the hint she wants me to lose weight. Also, what parts of your body gets the most workout out of bicycling?

I have read many articles saying how bike helmets should be always used and how many lives they save, but I really have never ever found my self in a situation where I might need one. I recently found a websit that actually shows the truth in statistics about bike helmets: http://www.kenkifer.com/bikepages/advocacy/mhls.htm

Ok, i'm looking to buy a bike for trail riding and just cruising. This is just for recreational so i'm looking for a decent bike for cheap.

I was looking at Pacific Arrow
Is it as bad as Huffy?
How is it compared to mongoose?
And please share your knowlege about what brands are good and what are bad.

P.S. i dont want a Trek, ironhorse, (insert expensive bike name here), cuz this is only for fun not serious biking. aka no $.

It was only about a 7 mile ride (mostly bike trails, a little dirt, grass, gravel). I do have a decent seat and a gel seat cover and a mtn. bike (with new tires).

I don't mind being sore from a ride, but I want it to be from using my muscles, not from banging my tailbone against my bike seat.

Am I doing something wrong when I am riding that caused this? Do I need a different type of seat, or is this just something I will get used to?

I can't imagine people who ride often walking around with this kind of pain all the time...

Thanks!

I clean my bike chain pretty much weekly. When I do this I always have a bunch of dirty rags. I hate putting them in the washer because they always leave a mess, and the washer is new. Any ideas on how I can clean them before they go into the washer?
