I got Cannondale biking shoes. But it didn't have the clip to connect to the bike pedal. Do I have to buy it separateley? Where can I get those. Doesn't it usually come with the shoes?

Thanks

What I mean is: There are some holes for screws at the bottom of the shoes. There must be a clip that connects to those holes through screws and it connects to the pedal.

Let me clarify: I just have the shoes. I'm planning to use them first for spin classes. The spin bikes (Schwinn bikes) have a groove where a metal thing on your biking shoes can connect to. My question is, where do I get that metal thingy that connects to spin bikes. What is that "thingy" called. Where can I find it. What does it cost. Thank you very much.

The cleats (metal piece about the size of a quarter that bolt into the shoes) come with the pedals. This is because different pedals use different kinds of cleats, although the bolt pattern to attach them to the shoes is universal (well, universal for mountain bikes, there is some variety in road shoes and cleats).

All of this assumes you actually have spring-loaded or "clipless" pedals. If all you have are plain old platform pedals or pedals with a clip (or "basket") and nylon strap setup, then no cleat will attach to it. You'll have to buy pedals too, and the cleats will come in the box with the pedals.

What you mean are the CLEATS.

They come with the pedals. From your question I assume you don't have clipless pedals. You have to get one in order to maximize the use of your biking shoes.

Shimano & Crank Brothers make good pedals. But make sure that your shoe would be compatible to the pedals you'll be purchasing.

You probably need to buy a clipless pedal, and the cleats are some metal thinguies that attach to the shoe.

The cleats are based on the pedal and usually come with them. You can just look up your pedal type - ex. shimano spd - and purchase the cleat to install yourself. They usually run around 20 bucks for the pair.
