I recently bought a bike and I am wondering how high my seat and handlebars are supposed to be. It didn't feel right when I rode it the other night. I felt hunched over and felt like my knees were in my chest. I thought the seat was supposed to be as high as my legs so I am already pretty much sitting on it when I am standing with my feet touching the ground. (if that makes any sense.) I would like to know if I am supposed to be judging from my feet on the pedal or do I just try trial and error to find what is comfortable? Any help or sites I could go to would be great. I haven't been able to come up with anything. Thanks in advance! ~Jadine~

It's crazy that Riis has the balls to confess to doping, and has his Tour de France titled stripped from him. Meanwhile, spineless dopers like Ullrich, Armstrong, Indurain, and Pantani get to keep their titles. I guess the Tour wants to send the message that you need to cheat, and have no integrity to win.

Why do people who ride bicycles think they own the road? They ride in the street when there's a bike lane, run red lights/stop signs, ride 4 and 5 of them next to each other? Do they not realize that they weigh a couple hundred pounds, where a car weighs like 2000?

I have been mountain biking for quite a while and it is a big hobby of mine. I had a great hydration pack (don't remember the make or type), but it was stolen. I've never really had a good pair of gloves. Does anyone have any ideas on the best type of pack and gloves to get. For the gloves, warmth isn't a big deal because I mainly ride in the summer. FOr the pack, however, I need to be able to fit a reasonably large resavior in there for long rides as well as the essentials (e.g. tubes, multi-tool, levers, mini-pump, energy bars, rain-layer, first aid kit, light system, and a strobe light). Thanks

I want to do a self-supported bicycle ride this summer riding only on the back roads (roads less traveled). Where can I find maps (or software) that include details on all roads especially those in South Carolina?

My bike has the numbers 1, 2, and 3 on the left side. On the right it has 1-7. Is my bike considered 'three speed'? And if I buy a bike that says three speed is that the same as my bike considering gears.

From Steel to carbon fiber for 10 lb reduction, we have to
pay $1000 more. But we as rider can easily lose 10 lbs.
I thought total weight (bike+rider) counts.

Thanks!

I am still not convinced that 2007 $5000 bike is much
better than 1980 $5 bike I bought from yard sale?
1000X expensive gives me more safe ride, or faster
speed or more conformtable or just looks better?

Is there a turning point such as in 1990s, bike technology

What are some other mountain bike brands that aren't mainstream? I know of Specialized, Trek, Kona, Haro, GT, and Mongoose. What are some other GOOD brands. I'm looking for a hardtail good for urban freeride, freeride, some jumps/drops, trial, and maybe a little trail. Mainly the urban style though. Any recommendations?
