I think those were le Tour de France jersey colors..
Personally I just shake my head in amusement whenever I see a bunch of Lance-wannabes riding down the street in my neighborhood, all of them wearing those Discovery Channel yellow jerseys. Not sure if I'm supposed to be impressed by that or what (and I'm not.). :-P

I don't think anyone gets your question. Obviously the yellow jersey carries the most prestige but I've always been fond of the green jersey. I think it's the awe I feel when I see these guys sprinting toward the finish line and reaching speeds of over 45 mph ON A FLAT! Simply amazing. Robbie McEwen would have to be my favorite sprinter.
The polka dot jersey (KOM) is also pretty cool, but I'd rather not look like Michael Rasmussen does, like an anorexic.
Great question even if most didn't get it.

i wish you just said purple because that color is a majorly underrated color. but i guess white is next!
