it depends if you peddle briskly then maybe but it all depends on your calorie intake vs the calories you burn off. it you eat 3000 calories and only burn off 500 then you prob won't loose weight.

Assuming you don't change your eating habits at all, you should see some weight loss over some period of time. How fast you see the weight loss depends on how far you ride, how fast, you ride and how difficult the area you ride in is. 30 minutes of riding uphill is much harder than 30 minutes of riding downhill, and 30 minutes of riding and going 3 miles is nowhere close to the amount of energy you burn if you ride 10 miles in 30 minutes.
What muscles will get the work out? All of your leg muscles with mostly your quadriceps.
This is an extreme example, but I did it so it's true =D. I went on a biking trip from San Francisco, CA back to where I live in Anaheim Hills, CA, biking along the Pacific Coast Highway. It took me 11 days (since I didn't really train before I started) but in those 11 days of riding about 10 hours a day I lost 7 lbs. I ate whatever I wanted, drank whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. It's an extreme case, but yes, cycling is an excellent way to burn and lose fat. GOod luck

Any time you burn more calories than you consume you will lose weight. Try to aim for a pound a week. To do this you need to burn 3500 calories more than you consume.
Here's a cool site to estimate calorie usage. http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/jumpsite/calculat.htm
An easy way to burn fat is to get up in the morning before eating anything and ride your bike at an aerobic rate. Buy a cheap heartrate monitor and try to get your heartrate above 145bpm for 45 minutes. Your body will go directly into fat burning mode. It helps if you drink coffee before (black!).
Then just watch what you put in you mouth. Eat whole grain foods, lower you sugar intake and eat a balanced diet. There's no need to go in for fads. One pound a week doesn't sound like much but imagine weighing 50 pounds less a year from now.

Good on your Mum. Get on your bike. You will get fitter, your muscles will tone up and your butt, stomach, legs will get a good workout and your lung capacity will increase.
If you eat properly and adjust your diet to include more green vegetables and less processed foods, you will lose weight.
Your new favourite drink is water. :D
Don't be too worried if after a while your weight loss slows down. You will be just building up your muscles. Muscles weigh more than fat. You are doing a good thing.

cycling has superb well-being advantages and in case you bypass cycling customary for half-hour and you do no longer consume loads of intense calorie nutrition, particularly fatty and sugary meals, then you definately in all probability will shed some pounds. I cycle to paintings quarter-hour each and every morning and then quarter-hour abode and it retains me in positive condition (this is particularly flat and quarter-hour isn't that long to cycle, so I nevertheless could desire to exhibit screen what I consume). The greater you weigh, the faster you bypass and the rougher/greater hilly the floor you cycle on will substitute how plenty weight you may lose, some smart telephone can track what proportion energy you lose in a experience so which you would be able to desire to paintings out what proportion kg you may desire to lose from that. wish that replied your Q because of the fact the different solutions says, it is not that sparkling what your asking.

Yes you will, if it's on a regular basis, and you watch the food you eat also. You will lose weight overtime but not all at once. Any exercise will do good for your health. Good luck!

You will lose weight if you do NOT increase your caloric intake.
Lay off the McDonald's (like ALL of it) and you'll lose more weight AND feel better.
