Yes, CrankBrothers makes the Eggbeaters. Here's a link for more info on their entire line: http://www.crankbrothers.com/eggbeater.php
The Quatro is for road and all others are for different aspects of mountain biking (all mountain, XC, freeride, etc.). I've had the Eggbeater SL (stainless) and the Candy (small platform). All their pedals utilize the same release mechanism, which is 4-sided entry and the mechanisim resembles the look of an old eggbeater, hence the name (remember the ones mom used with her mixing bowl?).
This design works great for mountain biking as it sheds mud easily. As with almost all clipless pedals, it takes a few times to master entry (fortunately, exiting is straight forward).
Since there are so many options in terms of materials, you can find them cheap to expensive. I believe the Chrome version is around $40 on sale and the 4-Ti version is closer to $400. Of course, you can find them cheaper on Ebay.
They're all great pedals. Good luck!

I have eggbeaters on both my road bike and my mountain bike (and I ride both bikes in mountain bike shoes).

I've been using them in one form or another for almost 20 years - so there's not a lot of problems with them.

They are great at shedding debris (mud or otherwise), easy to set, easy to clip in and out of (since they have four "sides"), and a simple cleat that stays relatively clean when you have to walk around in the shoes.

Comparatively speaking, I'd have to say the eggbeaters are pretty near the best bang-for-the-buck pedal out there, if you need to clip in.

Check the Crankbrothers website for more details - there's plenty of choice.

But to be perfectly fair - the choice of pedal is up to the rider. Some are more comfortable with one type over another. For instance, my wife ALSO uses the same pedals/cleats/shoes for both mountain and road bikes ... but it's an SPD pedal.

Egg Beaters are mainly for mountain, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't use them on road.

They're lighter than Shimano SPD, and shed mud better. They're a bit harder to clip in, but easier to clip out.

In price, you'll find them all over the board, some are just allow, some have some Titanium parts, and some are all Titanium.

Crankbrothers makes the "eggbeaters". They are very good pedals. Speedway makes "the frog" for mtn bike use. "eggbeaters" are great if you ride in muddy conditions.
Before you buy, talk to local riders and your bike shop on the pros and cons, their in-site can be very helpful due to familiarity with all the different brands.
