Yeah, I know I'm supposed to make it higher but how high should it be? Like are there any rule of thumbs or anything?

Go Levi! Montana pride! Dope scandal or not, we should all be proud of Levi Leipheimer.

Good Job!

Could someone please help concerning a question I have.

While sitting on a bicycle seat (stationary of course) should your feet be able to touch the floor - like should they be flat on the floor?
OR should you be able to touch the floor with the tips of your toes?
OR does' it matter whether your feet can touch the floor or not.

I cannot actually touch the floor with my feet while seated on my bike.....when I slow to a stop I just jump off my seat.....when I'm starting off I push off with my foot on the pedal at 2/oclock position, then move on my seat once I've got going.
I was taught this by a cycling instructor that I know.

Friends are telling me that I should be able to touch the floor while still sitting on my seat for safety reasons.
Is there a correct way?

Which bike do you suggest:
1. A cruiser ( I really want to purchase this bike for aesthetic purposes less $$)
2. A mountain bike (a really smooth ride more $$)

I think he does, though I know he won't get it. Contador should feel lucky that Rasmussen was allowed to ride in the Tour this year.

Hi,
I am new the the realm of road biking and I am looking into getting a new entry-level road bike that features Shimano Revo Twist Shifters, Shimano TZ30 derailleurs, a triple chainring alloy crank, etc. I am wondering if anyone out there has had these parts before and whether they will hold up for me.

And if you don't know about these specific parts but are able to give me recommendations that would be appreciated too. Thanks :)

Here's more specifics:
Front Derailleur: Shimano FD-TZ 30
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Tourney RD-TX30GS 7SPD
Shifters: Shimano Revo SIS L2/R7
Brake Levers: CS 206A aluminum
Brakes: CS AS4.0 alloy caliper brake

Where is a nice place to bike ride in Orange County. I am not talking about mountain biking, just to cruise with my beach cruiser.. I live in San Clemente. I went to the Huntington Beach pier that was nice but too far.

What if we got 1M people to file a class action law suit, where we'd each ask for $10. Not to try to make money, but to get publicity and scare these athletes into realizing that they can't steal our sports from us. Who's in?

I don't agree with drugs used to enhance performance because I was a college athlete, but this cracking down especially in the tour is ruining one of my favorite sporting events. False accusation, tarnishing reputations (i.e. Lance Armstrong) and whole teams being removed because of one riders mistake. Athletes who spend a lifetime for one sporting event do not deserve this.

Do you lose power on long uphills when you ride a full suspension? I ride an old Specialized Rockhopper (hardtail) and I've talked to some die-hard hardtailers who say that you can lose a lot of power on long uphills because of a bit of wasted energy with a full suspension.

In case you don't know (I just found out today), track standing is a term used when you are at a standstill on a bicycle. It is used when track cyclists are about to begin a race and are getting into position.

I frequently see adults bicycling in flip-flops. I can't think of a worse shoe for bicycling. There's no grip on the bottom to keep your foot on the pedal, and even if it grips, your foot could slip right out of the shoe. The flip-flop wearers usually aren't wearing helmets either.

Do you think the US is ready to host an international bike tour? We too have incredible natural beauty the peloton could wind its way through. Where would you place the tour, and how long would you make it?

Pike’s Peak? The Sun Road of Glacier? The Pacific coastal Highway? Death Valley! Smokey Mountains? A week through corn country? Follow the Mississippi? Or would you include Canada and Central America.

And where would it end? (New York City; Washinton DC; LA; San Francisco; Chicago; Atlanta?)

(I don’t think the tour needs to be restricted to contiguous segments. You may include several hops in your tour design to a different part of the country if you like.)

First leader ever or has there been others? Is that true? Tour de France has suffered enough. What do you think should be done to clean it up?

2007-07-25 20:09:58 · 8 answers · asked by COLLEEN K 2

So, the TdF leader has just been removed from the tour, even though he has been clean since it's beginning. I understand his team has a zero tolerance policy, and he had been blood doping before the Tour and possibly fabricated a story about being in Mexico when he was spotted in Italy.. Either way, it was his teams decision and I believe it was the right one. How do you feel about his removal from the tour after watching his recent performances while he was clean?
