Hi,
I am new the the realm of road biking and I am looking into getting a new entry-level road bike that features Shimano Revo Twist Shifters, Shimano TZ30 derailleurs, a triple chainring alloy crank, etc. I am wondering if anyone out there has had these parts before and whether they will hold up for me.

And if you don't know about these specific parts but are able to give me recommendations that would be appreciated too. Thanks :)

Here's more specifics:
Front Derailleur: Shimano FD-TZ 30
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Tourney RD-TX30GS 7SPD
Shifters: Shimano Revo SIS L2/R7
Brake Levers: CS 206A aluminum
Brakes: CS AS4.0 alloy caliper brake

UPDATE:

Hi,
Thank you all for your honest opinions, I'm glad that I can get help from people who know what they're talking about :)

Just so you know, you can find the bike I'm looking at here: http://www.amazon.com/GMC-Denali-Road-57-5cm-Frame/dp/B000FDDDGU/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-3181881-3197260?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1185669357&sr=8-1

I thought since it was the #1 best-selling bike of all time on amazon that it would be okay... but I'm going to give some other bikes some consideration. The only problem I have is that I can only spend about $300 MAX on the actuall bike, not including a tune-up, a proper fitting session, and a couple accessories. Thanks for your time and help!

I know the exact bike you are talking about.. it is a VERY good idea not to buy it... but I won't give your secret away.

Bikes from mass merchants are called "price point" bikes in the industry. They are designed and specced to minimize retail price and maximize profit.

One cannot buy any kind of reliable road bike for the cost of a dinner for 4 at a franchised steakhouse. For an entry level road bike I would suggest that you budget 2 to 3 weeks salary, or a minimum of about $400.

Go to a couple local bike shops and see what they have on closeout. You'll not only get a great value, you'll also start a valuable relationship as your interest in the sport grows.

Just a little more info... Shimano Tourney is used on the lowest grade bikes made. They are very unreliable and are an embarassment to the Shimano name. However, since they sell so much of the stuff and make so much money on it they are willing to live with mud on their face.

Road bikes do NOT have "twist shifters". The Shimano Tourney is a bottom of the barrel part. The bike you're talking about sounds like a Walmart mountain bike. Sorry, but they're
junk as far a bikes are concerned. If you want a decent bike, go to a bike shop. That's all they sell.
To the person below, you're wrong, pal. You will find Shimano parts on Walmart bikes ! Go there and look for yourself. And the "Tourney" system is an insult to the Shimano name. This bike would'nt be stolen from a Detroit McDonalds on a Saturday night ! In fact, a criminal might feel sorry for the owner and leave money on the seat...

as quickly as I get out my 1970 motorcycle i'm reminded how remarkable the physique fabric honestly feels. loss of vibration, speedy responses to head into(s). i can (and do) holiday double centuries on it. i ask your self approximately it is flex although. Like as quickly as I brake difficult down a steep grade and that i see the fork flexing. no longer something has cracked or broken, i could upload. I then bounce on my new intense tech device. that's an entire 2 a million/2 kilos lighter. i think its lightness as quickly as I p.c.. the motorcycle up, no longer whilst i'm using it. this is the unusual section. I very practically (there are different motives to love a motorbike besides the physique as you already know -- the gang is composed of recommendations) like the outdated Yeller extra valuable. The outdated style physique seems to be a extra valuable hill climber. the outdated college geometry suits this outdated college physique a tad extra valuable, too -- or i'm in order that familiar with it. I honestly have a hybrid i visit apply between the line motorcycles. I honestly have carried out double centuries on it and my hands went numb for 4 days afterwords. that's made up of all Aluminum. specific, I honestly have the properly suited extra healthful, sturdy grips, and gel gloves. i think of that's vibration. I nonetheless love the holiday on that motorcycle, yet i'm doing much less long rides with it. So -- properties. suitable physique: compliant, whipy, sturdy at intense speeds (40+ downhills), freed from vibration, responsive and sturdy street experience. in no way desires paint and has seems to teach something of the motorcycle team envious.

Yeap Smelly Cat hit the nail on the head. Sounds like a Wal Mart special. Throw away bike. Use for six months throw away and get another one. You know like their weed eaters, their lawn mowers, their air conditioners, their micro wave ovens. Their tires, etc. etc. etc.
Been there done that sorry about that. Hate walking home pushing a broke down bike.

Just to help us out, can you tell us what make of bike this is, and where you saw it? What you have described are very low end. Was this bike at a bike store or at a big-box store like Target? A road bike, as mentiond above, would not have grip shifters, so maybe you are looking at a hybrid or fitness bike, and not a road bike.
