I am an avid cyclist who just moved to a small town where nobody rides (road bikes). I miss my old group rides, anyone know if there's a web site to hook up with fellow cyclists, not to date or anything, just to ride?

I am a regular mountain biker, but like to road-ride, too. However, my full-suspension is way too much drama for the pavement and even my hardtail is too heavy for efficient road travel. I want something lighter and better suited. The problem is, I am not super fond of the "feel" of road bikes. I saw that Trek (my fave) had "fitness" bikes and "urban" bikes and I am wondering if anyone can tell me what are the advantages/disadvantages to choosing a fitness or urban bike over a road bike?

THANKS! :)

I think I've whittled down my bike search to a Trek FX model. I'm curious if the extra money spent on a 7.5 is worth it. The biggest difference seems to be a carbon fork. Will this make for noticeably less vibrations? Any opinions either way? I'm leaning towards the 7.3 just because of the price point, but I can be talked into a .5. I will mainly be riding on paved streets (although this is Chicago, so probably a fair amount of potholes and bumps).

Are diamondback mountain bikes very good? I'm looking at the MTN Hardtail Peak model (around $250). I'm not a very serious biker, but want something of high quality.

Just ordered a front shimano XT disk with 180mm rotor. Has anyone used one and if so what did you think?

I have an old Kona stuff (2002) which means it came with V brakes and Marazocchi MXR forks. It has the same frame as the current Kona jump bikes (Kona Clump). I'm also looking to upgrade the forks in the near future. Any recommendations?

My racing bike is in need of modernising so I'm going to do it up as a bit of a project. I fancy changing the frame colour - I saw a ford focus RS in orange and fancy doing it in that colour. Has anyone got any tips on the best way to remove the existing paint and the best way to spray it up to make sure the paint doesn't just chip off?
Any help would be appreciated
thanks

Hi, just bought my first "real" bike and I'm interested in joining a local club to find people to go with/talk with. I can't find one! Can anyone help locate one near Ladysmith, Wisconsin? Please don't tell me to go to a local bike store (there isn't one), talk to fellow bikers (I don't know any) or check with local clubs (I can't find any). Thanks!

I bought an old bike recently for $10. I want to salvage the frame and wheel only and buy all new parts.. i.e all cables and housings, brakes, pedals, crank arms etc.
How much might that cost me? And is it worth it?
