I won a great looking dual suspension mountain bike from work, but when I brought it home and did some research it said it is for boys 9-16 yrs of age.

I'm guessing that by 24/26 in bike you mean the tire size. Not too many bikes come in that large of a size. My 23" Giant mountain bike is one of the largest frame sizes.

Honestly, I would be leary of riding that bike. If it is made for younger kids, it is propbably designed with kid's weights in mind, not adults. The frame and fork may not be designed for the forces that an adult could put on such a bike.

Maybe what you could do is find out where the bike was purchased and try to trade it in for one built to your size. You might have to pay a little on top to get the trade, but if it is from a cycle shop, they are usually willing ot help get you onto the right bike.

Happy cycling.

26 inch is the wheel size. BMX bikes are 20 inch. Road bikes are 700cc. Mountain Bikes are 26 inches. 24 is a 'cruiser BMX' type size and is not too common. It does not refer to the size of the frame: frames are usually measured from the bottom bracket to the top tube and can vary greatly even with the same size wheels. The frame size is what you need to worry about when deciding if the bike "fits". Wal-mart bikes do not come in as many sizes as at a bike shop. LBS's can also order anything you need and service what they sell. Get sized at a local bike shop, even if you secretly know your going to buy online.

Probably it will be too small for you, unless you're 5'4 or less. Or it's an odd bike like Specialized Big Hit which had a 24" tire at the rear and 26" at the front.

I don't care what it looks like, as long as you like it. And you feel it's a good size for you.

Who cares? Tell ya what. Get fast, real fast. Then dress as dorky as you can. Go out the the coolest MTB trail around and STOMP on everyone, leave em eating you dirt! They will bow in your presence! You will become a legend! And the best part? You only need to do it ONCE. You'll hear stories about yourself for years to come.

Dreaming asside, if your too big for it then sell it and buy a 26" with the right size frame. If it fits then see above!

The size of the bike has to do with your height not your age. If the bike feels comfortable to ride then keep it. This question is kind of funny because you act like everyone will make fun of you....I mean, it's not like you're thinking about riding a girl's bike!

The size has to do with your height not your age ,if you are short its OK,you could sell it and buy a new one,but two inches really does not matter.

Yes it looks very weird. Unless you are really short, it won't fit you right. Other cyclists will probably make fun of you. Try selling it on ebay.
