Take a book and shove it up between your legs until it's up against your pubic bone. Measure from the top of the book to the floor. This is your inseam. My inseam is about 33.5 inches, and I ride a 19.5 inch mtn, and a 58cm road. Check the manufacturer's specs on standover height for their different sizes. You'll want more standover for a mtn. bike than a road bike. If you are 5'8", you'd probably ride a 17inch mountain and a 52-54cm road bike. It all depends on your inseam. Cockpit length can be adjusted with different stems and seatposts. Go to a good bike shop and they'll help get you fitted. If you are going to buy something online, try to find a local shop that carries the bike you're interested in, that way you can swing a leg over it and see how you like it.
PS-Don't forget to check the manufacturer's frame geometry specs!

You really need to go to your local bike shop and get fit. They will be ablt to fit you properly to the kind of bike, brand and what style of riding you prefer. Don't just blindly purchase a size because someone online told you what size bike they ride. Good Luck!

Yeah not enough info...but I'm 5' 8" with a 31" inseam. Shorter legs and arms. I ride a 52cm road bike with a 30" standover height. My mountain bike is 16.5 frame.
That will get you close.

Need more info; road bike, mountain, BMX? Go to a bike shop and get fitted; height is just one factor in a good fit, and each brand is a bit different.

The wheels should be twenty-seven inch.
The frame size if you be able stand on both feet frame straddle between your legs than is you size. If you cant that the bike is too big.

if its a BMX i would say go 20"inch Mountain bike i would say around 24-26"inch
