He seems to come across as having a holier than though attitude every time he opens his mouth.

Where's the proof on Armstrog? Come up with that proof or you don't have a leg to stand on.

Was LeMond as clean as he says he was? Could a normal rider make up as much time as he did in '89 on the time trial against Fignon? You have to remember he had just gotten out of the hospital with buckshot in the liner of his heart. He said Armstrong could not have won after his cancer without doping...what about him winning after his accident? He was down by 50 seconds going into the time trial, and ended up winning by 58 seconds.

I'm not belittling LeMond. He just seems to have this attitude that every winner of the tour has doped but him. Honestly, I think he is jealous of Armstrong. Before he came along, LeMond was the American cycling stud. Also, there is no such word as "irregardless."

I totally agree with you. As much as I remain impressed by Lemond's accomplishments, they pale in comparison to Lance's 7 consecutive victories. Even if you "give" Lemond the 6 victories he claims he would have had (85 when he was ordered to ride for Hinault, 87 and 88 assuming he was never shot), he still comes up 1 short of Lance. And in my humble opinion, Lance probably had 1 or 2 more victories left in the tank.

LeMond was the last clean winner of the Tour before the era of doping really began. There were drugs in cycling going back decades, but the early 90's saw a watershed in the sophistication and use of drugs among cyclists.

It never ceases to amaze me how people who have absolutely no experience on this subject, can belittle someone like Greg LeMond, for speaking the truth. Unless you've been a Cat.1, or professional cyclist, you have no idea what you're talking about. You don't have a clue.

I don't mind you sticking up for Lance, doped or not, he's a great cyclist. But give LeMond some credit, he's been there, he knows more about the subject than any of us here on Yahoo! You don't have to believe him. But you don't have to degrade him either.

Personally, I have no doubt that Greg is right. Can I prove it? Nope. I can't prove that Rasmussen used drugs either. That's the thing about today's drugs. Used correctly, they're undetectable. I don't care how many tests you pass. It doesn't mean a thing.

That's what's so insidious about drugs in cycling. There'll never be another inspirational performance, or a courageous comeback, that isn't questioned as to whether or not the cyclist was clean. Drugs have tarnished the reputations of all professional cyclists, irregardless of their integrity. And that is something that LeMond has every right to speak out against.

LeMond is a cry baby who wants to discredit other riders in a desperate attempt to remain number 1.

Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so.

I think he must. I just read that he said there was no way Contador could be climbing the way in the tour w/o dopping. I want a clean sport too but just because someone is good doesnt mean he cheats!

LeMond is a whiny beeyotch. Even when he was racing, he got sand in his vagina when Hinault didn't GIVE him the win one year!

He has always been a whiner.
