its totally possible. it just takes planning. you need to take into account your average speed and distance on non hiway roads, how long can you realisticly be on a bike each day. are you doing the hotel thing or are you old school touring and if so do you have the right equipment and can you carry it? if not do you have a chase car for support. and since im from callifornia i have to ask are you really prepared for texas?

quite possible and done many times I am sure. A little preparation goes a long way. If you are going to carry a tent and sleeping bag (unsupported touring) than figure on average 10 MPH.

If you are going to sleep in hotels or B & B's you can pack lighter. Get maps and lay out your route, stops and sleepover. Make sure you pack enough spare tubes and tools to make bike repairs. GPS would be nice!

Anything is possible. If you do it, I suggest you get a list of Campgrounds along the route you plan to travel, so you can at least pull off the road, pitch a tent sleep and eat.

Some campgrounds have shower facilities. You will have to research it for city-to-city. Keep sufficient bottled water with you. If camping you can always boil water that you can later drink.
