I just bought a Yeti ARC frame, and I'm going to build it. I think a build kit would be better and quicker than buying the individual components, but I'd go for a second opinion.
I get totally overwhelmed when I'm looking, because I don't know a whole lot yet. I do know that I want the highest quality components for the least amount of money. I'm totally willing to buy a lower model item if it performs exactly the same but weighs more, but I don't want to compromise much on quality and performance because I don't want to speand a ton of money replacing of fixing things.

I paid $300 for the frame, and would love to buy a build kit for around $600 or $700.

I'm a senior in high school, so I'm also saving for college, so the less money spent, the better.

Thank you so much for your time!

Contador won the stage.... but he refused to do any of the work the last 2-3 km. How can he say he won the stage when he played wheelsucker all the way and refused to ride at the front. Could Rasmussen done anything different? WHat would Lance have done?

On the Tour de France Marcus Burghardt hit a dog who had wandered across the road. Does anyone have a web link that indicates the dog is OK?

Labradors are very stoic when it comes to pain. My lab broke his leg, he did not even make a sound. I have researched to find out about this dog and asked my friends in France however nothing. This bicyclist should have made more effort to get away from the dog. Look at the finish line, these guys bunch up and lean on each other - he had plenty of room to move around him, this is a pro bicyclist!!! Poor dog, he knew he was not in the right place.

I have this Trek 820 mountain bike circa 1994 that has succumbed to rust. The cassette is really bad, as it the crankset, and even the handlebar has become covered with small spots of rust. Every exposed bit of metal is pretty crappy looking, but the frame itself is in great shape. I hardly ever rode it outside after 1995, using it mostly on a trainer indoors. It was only over the last year or two when I made the mistake of storing it outside that rust became such an issue.

So the question is, should I just throw the whole bike away, or make a project out of it and have all the vital parts replaced? My other bike is a road bike and I really can't take it on unpaved trails, such as the C&O canal towpath, which is only minutes from my home. Would it be a total waste of money to have this bike resurrected into something usable? And do any of you have a ballpark idea of what it would cost me to replace brakes, crankset, cassette, etc., using entry level Shimano parts?

They claim Lance Armstrong took drugs because he won so many times in a row, and because he's American. There's no proof, so are they being prejudice against him any winners from other countries? I wouldn't be surprised that if a French person wins so many times these days, they wouldn't make him take a drug test.

I'm a teen, (15yrs) and i8 can't tell you how much I want the freedom to ride my bike to school! Sadly, the path to my school is mostly through a forest preserve, and I'd be riding in the early morn'(~6:15am) A family friend, a policeman, has refused me to ride my bike to school, and naturally as do my parents. I actually do completely understand the dangers of me, a girl riding alone...but I'm really hoping there's some way, precautions, like pepper spray on hand, anything!!!
Thanks so much!

My boyfriend and I just bought some mountain bikes; well mine's a hybrid. When we were at the store last night getting his we told the salesperson we needed a bike rack. He looked up my car info., 2000 Olds Alero, and told us that since Aleros have plastic bumper they cannot hold the weight of the rack. Now this was at an actual bike shop, I know if I go to a place like Dick's Sporting Goods I can buy a rack no problem. Has anyone had this experience or put a rack on a car that is not supposed to have one? I appreciate the salesperson's honesty and he told me I could have a hitch welded onto my car and get a rack that way. A roof rack won't work w/my car either appartently (plus they are more expensive than my bike).
