As others have said, it's best that you go to a bike shop and have them fit you.

I don't know what you define by road and trail. At one point, you will have to compromise on one for the other. If the idea of trails are well taken care trails with not many roots or rocks, a hybrid is a good balance.

But if you want a tougher ride, like doing small jumps and drops, go for a mountain bike even if you sacrifice some on road speed.

All those brands you posted are very good, also check Cannondale, Kona, Marin and others. It might depend on which brands your local shop have. When you're starting (maybe even later) it's important to have a good bike shop.

Good luck!

I have had Trek for about 20 years and have been extremely happy with them. As for the kind I would recommend a HYBRID. They are a cross between a mountain bike and a road bike. That is what I have. The tires are not really fat nor are they super skinny. As for the size I would strongly suggest that you go to a BIKE SHOP and have them size you. Having the correct size can make the difference between an enjoyable bike ride and a miserable one. Happy peddling.

All the major manufacturers make good quality bikes. It comes down to personal preference. I've had good luck with Treks for the last 25 years, putting on 15,000+ miles a year. Someone your height might take a 50-52cm road bike. Go to your local bike shop to get properly fitted and to talk to a knowledgeable salesperson. They can help you decide what's best for you.
