They took it out last year and this year. The TTT has come and gone over the history of the race. The race committee can design any race they want, so it is their prerogative. I just think it's shame. It's a beautiful event. The fans love it. The riders love it. Even the sponsors love it.

It's a tough stage to work out. The longer TTT's that have been in the Tour tend to favor the big money teams, which are filled with guys who can all time trial. Any team that is splitting it's hopes on both the general and mountains classifications is in trouble. When it was included two years ago, the finishing times were based on the winning team's time plus some penalty for finishing order rather than actual times. While this was meant to level the field, it pretty much created a rest day for any team that wasn't out for the stage win. Ideally the event will come back something like the team prologue in this year's Giro. It was too short and technical for huge time gaps to open up, and being on the first day meant that all of the teams started with the same number of people.

Some of the teams were complaining that it was favouring the stronger teams (Discovery, Astana, CSC, Rabobank, TMobile, etc) so they cut it out
Pitty that i never actually saw one, they sounded and looked good and very interserting
The might put it back next year

They don't do it every year, but they had been doing it the last few years. Problem is, only a few teams are good at it, the rest just try to survive it.
