I don't agree with drugs used to enhance performance because I was a college athlete, but this cracking down especially in the tour is ruining one of my favorite sporting events. False accusation, tarnishing reputations (i.e. Lance Armstrong) and whole teams being removed because of one riders mistake. Athletes who spend a lifetime for one sporting event do not deserve this.

Okay let me try this again. I agree with the testing what I don't agree with is the false accusation and the removal of full teams...which include riders who did not test positive

I agree with your stance on performance enhancing drugs. Substances that give athletes an unfair advantage over other athletes of natural ability should be eliminated from sports. But in order to do that, anti-doping agencies must be enforced and tests must be used because doping is actually very common.

Cycling's tests may be a bit cumbersome and annoying, but more times than not, they do catch the cheater. Baseball is another sport with this controversial problem.

As for the removal of an entire team, the decision is not entirely the anti-doping agency's. Teams eat and train together, which means if one person is using drugs, it is possible for others on that team to do the same. In the case of Rasmussen this year, the whole team dropped partially because Rasmussen is the captain of that team, so if he is out, there is almost no point for the other riders to be there. They are no longer acting as his support crew, but riding for themselves, which is an almost guaranteed loss.

I feel the same way. Sports should be about the guy/gal doing their best to shine in any sport, and drugs are just a shortcut that stain it.

While I think that the guys at the TdF are trying to do is clean the sport, which will mean a nasty time, but hopefully after it is done it will be for the best. But also, I think that there are a lot of politics in the sport involved, and that should also be watched.

Drug use is the culprit. Motivated by greed, of course. I take my hat off to Tour de France for taking drastic actions knowing that they will get ridiculed by all. Do you really think that cylists are the only greedy people in sports? The more money at stake, the more the greed. And cycling is lower than dirt when it comes to financial rewards! Do you think NFL, NBA and soccer, to name a few, can do what Tour de France does? No way! Everybody involved in those sports don't want to spoil their vacation to Monte Carlo. In France!

It is more of a cleansing really. I like what is happening. Hopefully riders will start to realize that it is NOT accepted anymore. The punishments have to be quick and harsh, or the riders will continue doping. (even if that means removing the whole team i.e. Astana). I have visions of a clean TdF.

I think cycling is taking an approach most other sports are afraid to. Either test the hell out of everyone or let everyone take what they want - just keep things on the level and concentrate on a fair sporting competition...

drug testing doesnt ruin sports... the people who use drugs do.

It is the drugs NOT the drug testings!
"don't get it twisted!" snap!
If those atheletes are taking are doping despite the fact that there is testing, can u imagine what would happen if there was not testing?
