In case you don't know (I just found out today), track standing is a term used when you are at a standstill on a bicycle. It is used when track cyclists are about to begin a race and are getting into position.

not when you master the technique but it helps when your just starting to learn it.

No, if you master the technique (I haven't) you can do a track stand anywhere. It's not only to start a race, but if you do road and have to wait for a red light, or down a trail and want to decide wich lines to take.

If you are learning to do a track-stand it is easier to learn how on a hill. Then as you get better progress to flatter spots.
Now go out and practice.

no, but it helps a little, track stands are very difficult to perfect, it takes a LOT of persistence...start practicing in short grass...

i practice at stop light on my commute but you gottab be darn quick with the release of your pedals
