per Mitchell Report: pages 8 and 9

"A number of studies have shown that use of human growth hormone does not increase muscle strength in healthy subjects or well-trained athletes.31 Athletes who have tried human growth hormone as a training aid have reached the same conclusion. The author of one book targeted at steroid abusers observed that “[t]he most curious aspect of the whole situation is that I’ve never encountered any athlete using HGH to benefit from it, and all the athletes who admit to having used it will usually agree: it didn’t/doesn’t work for them. ...because human growth hormone stimulates growth in most body tissues, athletes use it to promote tissue repair and to recover from injury"

Page 223 and 224

"According to McNamee, during the 2001-02 offseason, Pettitte asked him about human growth hormone. McNamee said that he discouraged Pettitte from using human growth hormone at that time."...
From April 21 to June 14, 2002, Pettitte was on the disabled list with elbow
tendonitis. McNamee said that Pettitte called him while Pettitte was rehabilitating his elbow
in Tampa, where the Yankees have a facility, and asked again about human growth hormone.
Pettitte stated that he wanted to speed his recovery and help his team."

my grandfather had a love for baseball he was the person who took me to many yankee games. i'm his only grandson and his daughter (my mom) wasn't interested in baseball so he loved to discuss the games with me when we went together. my grandfather recently died. In his will he left me his baseball cards that he never told me he had. Some family members left that all he left me was baseball cards. When i opened the wooden box with the key in it were 5 baseball cards. No ordinary baseball cards he kept them in MINT condition in individual plastic wrappers. one of them was a limited edition George Herman Ruth in his rookie year. The card is probably priceless today. another one was an autographed Joe Dimaggio from about 1941 black/white card also mint condition.

I always wondered why he told me stories of how he worked at the yankee stadium cleaning the fields and he told me of how he met certain players as a child. he told me he met Joe Dimaggio among others...

Why keep Wood and not Prior? What do you think the front office has in mind as the overall pitching strategy for 2008? And, will it work?

The Redbirds are looking bad enough as it is for this season and now we just downgraded some more with dealing Jim Edmonds to the Padres for a prospect that will be ready in 5 or 6 years. We don't have that long. The team needs help right now and this move is not going to help at all.

Like he didn't know his players were on juice when he was the owner of the Rangers. Every owner, GM, coach and manager knew it and they all looked the other way.
