per Mitchell Report: pages 8 and 9
"A number of studies have shown that use of human growth hormone does not increase muscle strength in healthy subjects or well-trained athletes.31 Athletes who have tried human growth hormone as a training aid have reached the same conclusion. The author of one book targeted at steroid abusers observed that “[t]he most curious aspect of the whole situation is that I’ve never encountered any athlete using HGH to benefit from it, and all the athletes who admit to having used it will usually agree: it didn’t/doesn’t work for them. ...because human growth hormone stimulates growth in most body tissues, athletes use it to promote tissue repair and to recover from injury"
Page 223 and 224
"According to McNamee, during the 2001-02 offseason, Pettitte asked him about human growth hormone. McNamee said that he discouraged Pettitte from using human growth hormone at that time."...
From April 21 to June 14, 2002, Pettitte was on the disabled list with elbow
tendonitis. McNamee said that Pettitte called him while Pettitte was rehabilitating his elbow
in Tampa, where the Yankees have a facility, and asked again about human growth hormone.
Pettitte stated that he wanted to speed his recovery and help his team."

I agree that Andy only wanted to heal his arm in order to get back into the rotation. I don't believe he had cheating on his mind. I do, however think he needed to announce this long before the Mitchell Report came out. I don't agree with what he did but I'm not going to condemn him either.
As for all the Yankee haters who are coming out of the woodwork, there is nothing anyone can do about "blind hatred". I suggest that they take the time to read the Mitchell Report as I'm doing right now. There is a great deal of circumstantial evidence, nothing concrete. Frankly this is nothing more than a witch hunt created by Bud Selig. The same Bud Selig who continually turned his back on the Bonds issue. Instead of doing his job, he allowed Bonds to continue hitting home runs and making money from the home run chase. I blame the Giants organization as well. Neither were about to lose the revenue the home run chase was going to make for them. Of course as we all know, as soon as Bonds broke Aaron's record, the Giants dropped Bonds like a bad habit!

villanize? come on
Pettite took it a few times to help him recover
Look at it this way
I take HGH every day 4 times in the buttocks so I can beat everyone
or
Pettites-- I tried HGH a few times to help me recover from an injury
If people say Pettite is a cheater and a villian for this than you might as well arrest everyone in the United States

Look, Pettitte came out and admitted it, at least he was man enough to come out and put in his two cents. Now can the other 85 or so players on the Mitchell Report come out and admitted that they did it, that includes Bonds, Canseco and McGuire.

I'm glad he came out and said it right away. The sources are all there and appear to be reliable, by saying you didn't you are making yourself look less creditable. I think it would be cool if he started something up to talk to kids about the dangers of performance enhancing drugs on his own. It would also be nice to see him provide and further information he might have regarding the Mitchell report or players that have used the drugs. I also hope that it wouldn't have to happen by force, if he just agreed to cooperate from the start.

HGH was not made illegal by the MLB until 2005. Pettitte took it in 2001 to help heal an injury. Wasnt a crime then, still isnt in my opinion

Pettitte should be villainized simply for being a Yankee.

No and Pettitte, does not look over blown and bulked up like Clemens, and Bonds. That fact that he came out and was open about it makes me trust him. The otter guys are acting like jerks. but not Pettite. I believe his story

Who really gives a crap anyways... We all knew Bonds was on roids and people still cheered for him, we all knew Big Mac and Sosa were shooting up during their record home run chase. Everyone just turned the blind eye, now that its out , everyone becomes a critic..
