Speed never sleeps! If you have speed you put a whole new intense pressure on the opposition. For one thing speed doesn't slump it is always there. You will cause your opponent to press and that is where mistakes are made. I remember the old cardinal teams of the early 80's with Ozzie and McGee and they had great team speed. Hence there world championships. If a team has great Speed you can win an extra 20 games on that alone. (if it is managed correctly)

well as far as having speed for the whole team, you need like 2-3 guys that are really fast and can steal you some bases. As a player i would have loved to have more speed when i played b/c it opens up so many more opportunities for you to play the game with more intensity.

Speed can disrupt you whole game plan. In the outfield, you can haul in those shots that most would never get to and save runs and baserunners. On the pads, you not only aggravate the pitcher and catcher but you keep fielders close to the bases because they have to make sure you aren't able to advance when the ball is hit. Speed kills!!

More range in the field, stolen bases, having the ability to bunt for hits, beating out infield hits, scoring from first on a double, more holes in the field due to fielders playing out of position to compensate for your speed, and getting inside the pitchers head when you're on first base. These are all huge advantages of speed in baseball. I'm sure there's more.

I think speed is important in games, because some games get boring, with all those slow players. Like guys like Jose Reyes, Jimmy Rollins, Juan Pierre and more make me exicted cause there like bolts of lighting.

Are you talking pace of the game? If I am in the park I don't realize how "slow" the game is.

If your talking the players on the field a great team needs a couple of guys who can run! Any Red Sox fan can point to two names; Dave Roberts (The Curse Breaker!) and Jacoby Ellsbury who ignited the Boston offense to finish the playoffs!

Very important, Juan Pierre got the Dodgers a couple of wins by messing with the pitchers so much that they ended up giving up home runs to the batter.

I think most games are too slow and boring.
They need to speed up the game.
Watching the game on TV makes me want to see what else is on because it is too slow.

For me when i played it always helped me alot. I beat out alot of ground balls stole a lot of bases. It helped me in the field to along with my arm. i would be able to get to the ball pretty fast so i could get a runner on a throw because i got the ball sooner.
