it's not the Players or our Clubs, it's not about getting noticed. we've had scouts over there for years. it's the Japanese free agency system.

they have been bound by contracts forcing them to perform 9 years of Japanese Professional service before they are allowed free agency, and therefore are well into their early 30's in many cases before they can leave their clubs. at that point, the money they can make on a guaranteed contract in Japan far exceeds what a Major League club is willing to spend on them.

the free agency system was created to maintain the economic viability of a professional league which has been around for something like 85 years. the Japanese are baseball fanatics and their are billions of dollars spent on baseball between the pros, industrial leagues, and high school kids. people stop what they're doing to watch baseball, and no one in power wants to hurt that love of the game, for money or pride.

the structure in Japan does two things. it robs MLB fans of the opportunity to see legit star players in their primes. It also discourages MLB clubs from actively scouting and evaluating talent.

Because they have to stay in Japan for a certain amount of time before they come to America or else MLB would be full of Japanese League players.

I agree with maddog_207, the have to start somewhere before they can get the attention of MLB. But better late that never, plus what a good chance to get your start, if you are a baseball player, and born and raised in Japan, by playing in your own country. And some may even never get here.

Many Japanese players don't really get recognized until they start to really have some great success in the Japanese baseball leagues. They need to really be consistently good to attract the attention of MLB.

I believe that when Japanese players sign with Japanese Pro teams, they are bound to the league for around10 years unless MLB teams are willing to pay the Japanese League team they belong to for the rights to talk to a player like how Boston did with Matsuzaka.

If all MLB gamers have been given the comparable sales, the popular of play and gamers would a great deal decline. the final athletes would end baseball and play different activities. some ought to stay interior the sport for "love", yet maximum would chase the bigger salaries of different activities. the different gamers would have not have been given any incentive to alter into extra helpful gamers. some human beings will continually hate A-Rod no rely if or no longer they use his play, contract, team changing, communities, or jealousy because of the fact he's a proficient athlete for their excuse. He wasn't universally enjoyed till now he all started getting great money and he's no longer universally hated now. the bright media coverage in manhattan purely magnifies each and every thing.

Because their rights are owned by Japanese baseball until a certain time.

To get a player..you must pay Japanese baseball a fee ( Dice K's was like 150 mill) to acquire his rights..then you must negotiate with the player and sign him.

For the same reason players cannot become free agents after their first year...the rights belong to their team until like the 6th year or so...

Teams must have a chance to recoup on their investment in a player before he can run...
