Ok, lets say a starting pitcher goes 5 innings and gives up 1 run and he leaves with the score 1-0. Now lets say the bullpen gives up 9 more to make it 10-0. Now the other team starts to make a comeback and loses 10-9. That starting pitcher gets the loss. Are you kidding me? Why not the guy who gave up the eventual winning run?

I was wondering what you think about Andre Ehtier. What are his strengths and weaknesses? Is he a good outfielder? To me he seems like a pretty average player but I wanted to know what you think. Thanks!

Does anyone else think they should have other compititions at the all star game besides the home run durby. I would like to see a fastest around the bases compitition. Or have the players throw into a net or something from the outfield to see who has to best arm.

The moment the game went from exhibition to high stakes the fans should cease to be involved in making decisions. Since home field is on the line I think it is very wrong of baseball to let fans make decisions.

I do think fans do have the right to a vote in an exhibition but this is clearly not the case anymore. People have jumped on me because they say the game is for the fans and while it is it has not been an EXHIBITION for quite a while now. A sports exhibition does not count for anything but clearly it does in this case.

One reason why the players voted in Manny is because those players feel he is a great hitter and he gives them one of the better chances of winning. If this was a true exhibition with nothing on the line Manny probably would not have been selected by the players. He still won't play because he has stated before he prefers not to play during the break. But clearly some of the players decisions send a clear message.

GET RID OF THIS STUPID HOME FIELD CRAP!

I think the last guy I would want to hit would be Travis Hafner...the guy's expression is intimidating, not to mention he's a freaking giant!

I go with Babe Ruth since he never struck out over a 100 times in a season and was a .342 hitter with amazing power.

Everytime he hits a weak grounder (which happens most of the time with him), the baseball manages to get through the infielders.

If weak grounders is all he could come up with (he has absolutely no follow through after making contact with the baseball, he only slides in the direction of first base).

Why is he such a fluke that all of his weak groundballs get through?

In this day and age a 500 foot home run is jaw-dropping...in the 50's and 60's, guys were hitting the ball 600+ feet. What's the difference in today's game? Didn't they change the baseballs to make them travel further recently? If so, how come guys that play today can't hit it like Mantle, Ruth and others did?

They put together a winner in Florida, with very little money, and now here they go again, are they the best or do you have to look at Oakland and others?
