I wholeheartedly agree with you. Not only is he in line to be the next manager but I think it could happen very soon like at the Break. Torre has lost his magic and lets not forget about Brian Cashman. Some of his deal are just pathetic. Like Kyle Farnsworthy, like Bobby Abreu, like Kei Igawa OMG. Cashman and Torre just don't have it any longer. A change is needed. Bring in Girardi. He'll put us back on the path maybe not this year but soon eneough.

I think Torre will finish up the year, but next year Girardi may be a good replacement. I think players will repect Mattingly, but I think all these rich boys need someone who is't afraid to get hyped up once in awhile. I can see Girardi being more fiery than Mattlingly, and the Yanks need that. I think this year they are done. They need to go 55-29 over their last 84 games to get get to 92 wins. It is possible, but I don't see it happening with the way they have been playing.

Girardi will be the Yankees next manager. That is why he turned down the Baltimore job. As for Girardi developing young players, that is a farce. The reason he was fired is he got into it with management/ownership about the players he was forced to put on his roster in Florida.

Girardi, in my opinion, is the most logical choice. The players know and respect him, and with the job he did with the Marlins last season, there isn't any reason why he shouldn't manage the Yankees.
With that being said, I also see some problems with Girardi being manager, and that problem's name is BRIAN F'N CASHMAN! Bri-Bri will be too busy getting players who are too old and injured on to the roster, setting up Girardi to fail. It's a no win situation, unless you eliminate the Cashman factor. Eliminate Cashman, bring in Girardi, and THEN we have a shot at getting back to where we belong . . . ON TOP!
Oh, and add a little bit of Bernie Williams, would ya? :-)

Everyone starts out with no managerial experience. That's not much of a strike against Mattingly. As for Girardi, he's only got one season under his belt.
I don't care what happens to the Yankees manager's chair, but noting that Mattingly has never held a manager's position shouldn't carry much weight against him.

I totally agree with this statement Kate.Giradi will more then likely be manager next year. He's a Yankee through and through, and he deserves to be back on that bench as a manager.I have always liked Giradi, even when he played as a Yankee, and when he was in Tampa Bay.People that think that Torre will be there in '08 are stupid and dumb.George would not be that dumb would he??He needs to get Torre out now, when his contract ends this year, and replace him with someone that has some fire. And Giradi would be the perfect person to do so.

As much as it pains me to say this (and it does!!!)
If Girardi does become manager; the yankees JUST MAYBE might have HALF a chance.
That other half a chance might be used to pay off the umpires or give it to pete rose to bet on!!!!
EDIT:
I like Joe Girardi. Just saying I hope it doesnt happen, because i like seeing the yankees lose...and WOW yankfan1!!! Are YOU a yankee fan, or just some wannabee??? Hmmmm....I'll take "Things that make you wonder for $500 Alex...."

Without Joe Torre the yanks would have had the downer they are having now last season. The Yankees stunk for nearly fifteen years before Torre and when he is gone they will resume stinking! No matter who is GM. The Yankees for the money they have spent have not had such a great glut of talent as their record under Torre would indicate!

Girardi has a lot of leverage having succeeded in his first full year as manager of the Marlins, developing young players, and being really young for a manager himself. That translates into big dollars. But if you've noticed anything about Girardi in the past 2 years, it's that he's very intelligent, which makes it difficult to fathom that he would walk straight into the slaughterhouse known as the Yankees. The money will be tempting for him, but since he can think for himself, he probably won't be heading there.

I think so. I think there was more than just "its not right for my family right" for Girardi turning down the Orioles job. However, the Yankees need to make the change NOW. If they wait any longer, any hope of the playoffs is gone.
