I tell you why. The Phillies have a great fan base in the best city for sports in the greather north east of the USA. This fans love this team. The have a super stadium. The stadium is always full of loyal fans. The people that own this team always undermind the power of fans.

This city deserves a team to back up Howard. Howard will go away in 1 year maybe less if they do not win soon. Like all the other superstars of baseball like Schillings did. They went to teams with a superior pitching staff and sluggers from 1st to the 9th in the lineup. The Phillies go again into the regular season with a less than impresive Pitching staff. When the Marlins and Braves have a power pitching line up like always. What are the others doing right that the Phillies can learn from. Nothing, the owners want the stadium full of freaks when they do not pay for talent. If this happened in Florida or Georgia the stadium will be close in two years and the teams moved to Arizona. Owners Pay for Talent!

A lot of divisions are close this year. but which will be the closest? My guess would be NL east, since the Mets have a good team, Phillies have agood team, and Braves have a good team.

I think that a handful of teams have a chance this year to make the playoffs, so I'm curious who will win the wild cards. I think Phillies ans Red Sox.

Who do you think will win when the two most bitter enemies square off tonight? The Red Sox with their power-hitting Big Papi and Manny or the Bronx Bombers with their clutch hitting DE-REK JE-TER and Carl Pavano?

Also, who will win the AL East this year? And if the Red Sox and Yankees somehow make it to the Playoffs, then who do you think will get farther?

My bet's on Bronx.

Who will win the AL Central? It is possibly the best division in the league with 4 contenders. In my opinion the White Sox,Indians,Tigers and Twins all have shots. Here are my predictions.

1.Twins 90 W, 72 L
2.Indians 87 W,75 L(wild card)
3.Tigers 85 W, 77 L
4.White Sox 82 W,80 L
5.Royals(if you want to count them) 60 W,102 L

If your surprised I have the Tigers in 3rd I just can't see them winning 95 games agian.I won't say they can't I just don't think they will.Who do you think will win?

Boston's $103 million pitcher allowed homers to two non-roster players, struggled with his control and even threw away a potential double-play grounder in his home debut against a major league team.

If he is getting tagged by non-roster players what do you think big time players are going to do to this guy?

Red Sox fans might want to lower their expectaions of this guy a little.

Considering that the Yankee/Red Sox rivalry is as old as the game of baseball itself, why, in a 100 year span have the Yankees continually dominated the BoSox? Surely we can't rely on the Steinbrenner money debate to acount for the whole period. In fact, when averaged-out the Red Sox have spent as much as the Yanks over the years. AND, the Sox have had their fair share of superstars (Williams, Yaz, Schilling, Ramirez, Oritz, Damon...) but they still choke year after year after year. Of course, I'm a Yankee fan so I could care less. Just trying to understand the losers side of the debate.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he is terrible. I just don't think he should be so hero worshiped as he is. If I had a line up around me like he has had, I could put up the numbers like that too. Plus when is the last time he was in the talk for a Gold Glove? His defense isn't fantastic and his arm isn't the greatest. Plus, I don't like his cockyness.

I would love to see teams that have unlimited payrolls fall flat. It would prove you can't buy a winner.

Watch out for Holiday and Atkins. Both are in that great 27 year old frame, which experts say that hitters break out. Look for .320-.330 with 30+ HRS, +100 RBIS, +100 runs scored.

The NBA, NHL, and NFL do have a cap. The NBA has a modification, the "Larry Bird rule" that allows extra money above the cap to be used to keep players you drafted.
