if its because you dont like them tell them practice has been moved to next week at (pick a city 3 towns over).

Or if you want to be real nice say "look I know you wanted to join but after thinking I have decited your not an *** hole and i dont want those guys to turn you into one but hey you can always join our ( poker night any thing)

if you want to be honest just say look dude i want to win this year and your not helping sorry

If you have $5 go to the mall and give someone $5 to call them and say hello Im the new sectary of the softball team and Im sorry to inform you that you are not on the team. We will call back if anything changes.

Next pratcie get a ton of candles and his uniform lay it all out on the field and you and your team members cry, the person comes up and asks whats going on. You died, No I didnt, Wow this is strange I sent in our players list with out you because we though you died sorry guy maby next year.

Well, I guess it depends on why they're not being asked back. If it's because they were loud and/or distracting then I would be honest and tell them just that. If it's because they're not good enough for your team, then I'm not sure that's really fair. You could always have a practice and say it's a try-out and then tell them they didn't make it. Or, you could tell them you already have too many people for the team. I guess it depends on how nice you want to be about it, but honesty always is the best policy.

You could do like Dr. Evil (from the Austin Powers movies)

When the whole team's assembled, tell everyone they off the team for good.

Then say 'Except you Johnny, and you Chad, and you Brian...' and so on until you're down to him and then stop. Then look around awkwardly and scratch your head and yawn.

In all seriousness though, tell him the 'reserves' had to pick the best, and he won first place so he'll be on hold for a while.

Remember how last year you were complaining that softball took up too much of your time? I've got some good news for you.

You gather the team together and announce your new team tradition. "Each year one player will be chosen to buy the beer for all the players & fans of your team every game and this year that player is ***** " >

You win either way :-)

Do what I did - I just told the guy "I had a bunch of guys threaten to quit if you played, and I cannot afford to lose my whole team".
