Considering that the Yankee/Red Sox rivalry is as old as the game of baseball itself, why, in a 100 year span have the Yankees continually dominated the BoSox? Surely we can't rely on the Steinbrenner money debate to acount for the whole period. In fact, when averaged-out the Red Sox have spent as much as the Yanks over the years. AND, the Sox have had their fair share of superstars (Williams, Yaz, Schilling, Ramirez, Oritz, Damon...) but they still choke year after year after year. Of course, I'm a Yankee fan so I could care less. Just trying to understand the losers side of the debate.

The fact of the matter is that there is no "rivalry" When one team beats the hell out of the other on a consistent basis for more than 100 years, how can anyone call it a rivalry? Money is not the issue. The real issue is whether any franchise is willing to spend their money. All franchises have the money! All of them!!!
The mindset between the Yankees and the Red Sox is like trying to compare a Mercedes and a Volkswagen. I'll leave it to you to decide which is which.

Its a two way street. Last year the Yankees swept the Red Sox at Fenway, but in return, the Sox took three of four from the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Every year for the past four or five years, both teams finish practically even with each other., The reason why the Yankees have won the Eastern division is due to playing other teams.

Because the Yankees had 1 little hiccup in 2004, the Sucks fans think than can compare. There's nothing 2 compare here. Red Sox suck, Yankees own.
Go with the guy who says Mercedes and Volkswagon, except change the VW to a Kia.

Leadership. yankees have proven that a team is not built in a single season. It takes years to put together all the ingredients to be a world series champion. Seems to me the Red Sox need to keep what they have and add to the puzzle, instead of cleaning house and not making the playoffs cause of it. And yes, money is part of it, without the 200+ millions invested, the yankess would not be playing in october year after year.
I'm a Red Sox fan. 2004 ALCS was Sweet. How does it feel from the choke of things?

The legendary Curse of the Bambino.
Red Sox traded Babe Ruth to the Yankees in the '20's for $75K. Yankees have dominated ever since.

well since the turn of the century the rivalry has been pretty even last time i checked i think both teams were about .500 when playing against each other, but over history the yankees have dominated because they are not afraid of spending money to keep their stars.

this is stupid garbage...sorry but its all about money. Now considering the Sox are with new owners for the past few yrs, they have gotten better and better players. The yankees and their bottomless pockets are not a team that deserves the accolades they receive. The team is full of a bunch of circle jerks, and salary whores

Red Sox consists most of the weakest players, Yankees, cmon don't you know that they actually have the best players. So obviously, Yankees will dominate Red Sox.
