This guy went for 40-40-40 last year an consistantly hit for 35 homeruns 100 plus RBI's and over 30 steals a season. I think if we can add a pitcher or two we can contend next season.

I am an Australian who watches a fair bit of baseball on ESPN and FOX Sports (GO METS) and was wondering if there were any other rule differences between the 2 leagues asides from the DH rule.

No wonder a family man can only take his family to a baseball game once a year. I just saw where 1 player is going to get over $8,000,000 a year for 8 years. He & 3 other players are going to recieve $28,000,000 between them. that does not include the millions it will cost a year for the other players already under contract. Why do these players need so much money? I played semi pro football (1966-1970) for $35 a week.we played in the Atlantic Coast League. WE played in New England & Penn. Sports are getting out of control. The Yankees ($200million a year) Red Sox($180million a year) are trying to BUY championships. What person hitting a little ball with a round stick is worth $8,000,000 a year?

The Cincinnati Reds, with a new GM and manager, led the NL central for much of the year, and then led the wild card for quite a while before fading at the end... they can't spend much dough to pick up superstar free agents, and their market isn't sexy and attractive to most players, so what shot do they have to win against bigger market teams?

So the title is pretty much my question. I bought a new era 59fifty Mets home ( royal blue ) cap yesterday, and I am debating whether I should take of the stickers and bend the bill or not.

i say that the tigers have a chance again. they got garry shefield

Why would you trade 3 good young pitchers for a little ***** like
Shefield when you could have had Barry Bonds jsut for money. Barry Bonds is dominant even to this day, take a look at that on base. I dont want to hear about ethics beacuse all you people are so morally superior to Bonds, aren't you all; PLEASE! This guy is still kick ***, for an American League team and DH, plus Leyand can keep Bonds in check. I jsut don't see the logic behind it. Some one tell me if you know the answer. Signed disgruntled Mets fan who is still pised that we signed Shawn Green and now we are stuck wtih him and even more pissed we are bout to sign Alou

America is the only participating nation AND audience, how can it be called the World Series?

Irregardless of the fact that there may be players involved from around the world, no other country watches it. Many sports have international players, am just curious as it does not make sense.

Why not 'The American Series'?
