he's worth 17 million now

and they will defanately clinch playoff berth

but he's what 30-31 years old

an 8 year contract seems a bit too much

to be paying someone 17 million in their late 30s seems absurd

This was some of the best news I have heard in a long time. It is so great to see Hendry putting some money into the 2007 season. I have no doubts that with the following lineup, we will be world champions!
Alfonso Soriano -- .277, 46 HR, 95 RBI (2006)
Cesar Izturis -- .288, 62 RBI, 25 SB (2004)
Derrek Lee -- .335, 46 HR, 107 RBI (2005)
Aramis Ramirez -- .291, 38 HR, 119 RBI (2006)
Jacque Jones -- .285, 27 HR, 81 RBI (2006)
Michael Barrett -- .307, 16 HR, 53 RBI (2006)
Mark DeRosa -- .296, 13 HR, 74 RBI (2006)
Matt Murton -- .297, 13 HR, 62 RBI (2006)

Did someone forget to mention to Soriano that the Cubs have not won a World Series in almost a' hundred years!?!?! Does he think he'll be Chicago's savior and bring a title to a cursed city?!?!?! Is he thinking that since the Red Sox shook off the Bambino and the White Sox buried Shoeless Joe; that he can sacrifice a bubble-gum chewing Billy Goat!?!?!?

What the hell is he thinking?!?!?!? Oh yeah...

He'll make the Cubs a better team! That is for sure. Soriano is a great ballplayer.

As a Reds fan, I am now a little worried, but the Cubs still need pitching. Learn something from the Reds, a team can't be all hit and no pitch.

Good move, not enough the Cubbies are still losers. They have to get some pitching and an attitude adjustment.
