This makes The Cubs so much better.
and with Pinella & Trammell in charge
Can The Cubs finally see a World Series win?

I'd love a re-match between The Tigers & The Cubs!

Way too early to start considering that. My favourite team always has been and always will be the BoSox, but man I've always had great respect for the Cubs over in the NL. Even through their tough years I'd pick them over the ChiSox any day. Like I said it's way too early. The offseason has barely started and anything can happen in the middle of the summer. But this is definately a step in the right direction. Re-signing Ramirez and now getting Soriano are both good moves, but now is time for pitching. I think Lou knows that too. Hopefully they have some money left to make their pitching perspectives a little better.

Soriano is a great addition for the Cubs. The heart of their lineup with Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez will definitely be intimidating for opposing pitchers. I don't believe they are a championship team yet however in the National League anything can happen. If they can get their aces to stay healthy they have as good of a chance as anyone in the NL. The Cubs fans should have more faith in their team after the offseason moves they have been making so I wouldn't be surprised to see them really challenge St.Louis in the NL Central.

Sure the Cubs have Soriano, but theyre never gonna be able to play ball with the White Sox. The Cubs still have no pitching and they are still the Cubs. Theyd be better off without Soriano because they just paid him way more than they shouldve and couldve waited around and got some solid hitters and maybe some pitchers and pitching prospects. They have like 2 guys in their lineup (unless they keep Juan Pierre) and no pitching still. Soriano shouldve gone to a team that couldve used him like the Angels. They will not go to the World Series, and they wont even win their division this year. They might break .500, ill give them that.

The Cubs are taking the right steps. Looks like they want to win. With a batter like Soriano in their lineup, this will open things up for Lee. Look for Lee to have a big season because Soriano will be getting on base before him.
If their pitching can produce like it should, I see the Cubs winning the wild card race with no problem.

Who cares how much they hit. Jesus, yould think with the Yankees and Red Sox, and Mets getting dusted how they all did this passed season, you would have figured out that that OLD saying is true "Good Pitching beats good hitting"...and the cubs problem is the same as its been for the last 8 years...they have NO consistant pitching. The one year they had Prior and Wood for most of this season, they darn near went to the world series,..HELLLLOO! doesnt that tell you sumthing? Soriano makes them a better offense clearly, but who cares... what they needed to do was go after Barry Zito, or The Matsuzaka guy, or try and trade for some starting pitching and bullpen help. I think the soriano move is very good, he will hit a million HRs in Chicago and will rapidly become one of their favorite players...but they need AT LEAST! two starting pitchers, because you cant count on Wood or Prior EVER.

no they are not going to win. They do not have good enough pitching. While soriano is a great pick up they do not have a pitching staff that is good enough to take them deep into the playoffs. If by some act of God Prior and Wood stay healthy, they have a better chance, but the problem with the team is that they rely on two guys that are very prone to injuries to be their key players and that is just stupid. Pinella is not a very good manager anymore. They would have been better off with young blood like Girardi. He's hungry to win. All pinella is good at is arguing with umpires.

Yes ,, what a plus for the Cubs,But now they still need pitching,But i think the signing of Soriano,Will make the Cubs look like real contenders,Good pitchers like to sign with clubs that have good offense,so this is gonna open alot of floodgates for the Cubbies,,UMMMM wonder how The white sox fans feel about this!!!

Based upon the length of the contract and the amount, the Cubs management must feel that Soriano is the player to build their future around. Hope that he will be happy in the outfield though, but then again, for that kind of money why be choosey.....
