Ruth was not sold in 1915. In 1914, he was sold from the Baltimore Orioles (at the time, a minor league team) to the Red Sox along with 2 other players. The exact amount is not known, but the Orioles had previously asked for $10,000 from the the Reds and Athletics for the players.
