Yeah the Metrodome sucks, but the Twins have had the best World Series ever at the Hump, and if you asked a baseball purist to design a stadium they could not have come up with one better except for it being indoors and on turf. It is asymmetrical, shallow right field, the Baggie, spacious left field deep center field, the seats are reasonably close to the field, funny bounces of the Baggie. I am not comparing it to the Classics but except when the roof is open it is better than the Skydome and much better than the Kingdome was, and better than the Astrodome. It served its purpose well it wont be missed much but until the Twins win a couple of World Series' in the new park it will be sorely missed by this Twins fan.

As a fan of baseball, I think it's a great idea. The Metrodome is a joke of a baseball stadium, with its articificial turf, catwalks, roof, and that stupid "baggie". Even though it only opened up in 1982, it was time to get rid of it. Still, Twins fans shouldn't get too excited. The Metrodome gave the Twins a HUGE home field advantage and allowed them to win two world championships. Puckett always said there was a secret to catching fly balls, and opposing outfielders have always struggled. Also, the fans got very loud in there. The Metrodome made championships out of two average to mediocre Twins teams, and that's an advantage they won't have in the new stadium.

It's about time, they deserve a new building. For the money they can afford to spend, they sure put a solid team on field every year. I wonder what theyll do with the Metrodome, will it become Football only? Or are the Vikings getting a building too?

Is it true that its going to be an open air stadium, no lid on the place? ARE THEY SERIOUS! in Minnesota? what the h*ll are they going to do late in the season if a serious coldfront moves thru Minnie..which isnt that far fetched given its MINNESOTA! Why not just have a retractable roof like Skydome, best of both worlds that way.

I know the Metrodome is ugly stadium but I like watching the players lose the ball in the ceiling. They will take the fun out of it with a new stadium!!!

i cant wait for the new stadium, ive never seen a pro baseball game outdoors because of that stupid metrodome. and who cares that it doesnt have a roof, baseball was meant to play played outdoors, and they have open air stadiums in chicago, detroit, milwaukee, and a few other places that have very comparable climates to the twin cities. so drop the whole roof thing, and get some balls. must be a democrat.
