If they find some pitching, look out, it's the Seattle Mariners! Oakland's day is done, and I think it will be the M's and the Angels battling it out for the division. If the Mariners don't find the pitching (put up the bucks, guys: pitchers like Zito and Willis don't come cheap!), then the Angels take the division. Otherwise, the usual suspects (Tigers, Twins, White Sox, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Steinbrenners) are all in play, and we will see a very exciting American League race. I'm not going to guess the National League winner either, but will say that the Phillies will be even stronger this year, the Cubs will be resurgent (or at least they will lead the league in bases thrown) and the Dodgers will not repeat. The Mets, Cardinals, Astros, Reds, Giants and Padres are still very much in the picture.

So yes, the Tigers do have a good chance again, but it is far too soon to call this race!

I am predicting the 2008 World Series winner: the Cubs. It's inevitable.

While I agree The Tigers do have a chance of making the playoffs again in 2007, I am not counting on them going all they way.

2006 was very enjoyable, and even though they did lose The World Series---they made it that far!

The addition of Gary Sheffield only makes The Tigers that much stronger.

But there are other viables involved.

If the yankees get some good pitching they could very well
go all the way. If The Mets get Barry Zito & Alou they could make a good solid run at winning The World series.

Let's not get all cocky. Not many teams repeat going to the fall classic anymore.
Remember the whinny sux? They got all cocky and were screaming all year they would win the world series again, and what happened? They fell apart after the ASB.

I'd love to see The Tigers go to the big dance next year, but I know it probably may not happen. And that's okay. The Tigers are finally contending, and will once again get there and next time win it. They gained alot of experience, and that will only help them in the future.

Everyone and their brother is going to name their favorite team. If you want "professional advice" just go to a gambling site and check the odds
The pros are now giving the yankees at 4 to 1 odds
mets at 5 to 1
white sox and detroit at 10 to 1
boston and dodgers at 12 to 1 etc.
the lowly royals are at 250 to 1
IF you guys dont believe these odds, then i suggest they put their money where their mouths are.

first of all that Jap you got has to sign with you,Second you don't even know how he's gonna do in the Majors,, 3rd your starting pitcher Curt the Jerk is
a yr younger then our Johnson,And he SUCKS,Lets See, then theres Becket Who Also Sucked Last Yr,,Then there's Wakefield,
Who's Knuckle Ball Has LOST IT"S DANCE!! Boston also needs a centerfielder Good Luck (there far and few good ones ) Our yankees will out pitch your Team,,Out Play your team ANYDAY,
OH yes we are getting Lilly,He shut you guys down so much last yr i lost Count,Now who's the moron!!!!"

If only there was a way to block out stupid people.

Schilling is a year older than Johnson, with an ERA 2 FULL points lower.

Wakefield's knuckleball is still lively, he was coming off an injury.

Beckett took a year adjusting to the AL, and his ERA would have only been 4 if Francona hadn't put him in for extra time to save the bullpen. He will have an era from 3-4 this season.

Daisuke Matsuzaka has played in the WBC, a league much stronger than the MLB and was lights out. He will surely succeed with an ERA from 2-2.5 this season, probably 20+ wins.

People think Japan suck because of sheer ignorance. Japan is the closest they can possibly be to being as strong as the MLB.
