(This is kind of a re-phrase of a previous question)

150 people die in America each day in traffic accidents, but we don't mourn them. Nor do we mourn all the kids that die of cancer or the daily crime victims in the US.

So why should we feel sorry for Cory or his family? Are they more deserving of our sympathy because he is a rich athlete? Or is it because the media deems him worthy of more coverage?

I don't get it - why the outpouring of grief from people who probably didn't know he existed until 5 hours ago?

Mine would be:
C - Bench
1B - Gherig
2B - Morgan
SS - Ripken
3B - Schmidt
OF - Aaron
OF - Ruth
OF - Mays
DH - Williams, Ted
SP - Clemens
SP - Koufax
SP - Matthewson
SP - Ryan
RP - Eckerseley

But that's just me.

If this had been a no-name private citizen we would be angry at him for flying recklessly below 1000 feet, violating restricted airspace, hurting innocent people, destruction of property, etc.

So why should there be a huge outpouring of grief just because this reckless thrillseeker had a Yankees uniform?

while doing a stats project I found a pretty in depth study that found Bill Buckner to be 2nd most clutch hitter in baseball history. Eddie Murray was first. Any comments about these findings?

Looking for the total number of pitches in an MLB single inning, both top and bottom (home and away pitching). I've seen many theoretical numbers (zero), but want an actual number from an actual game.

batted ball hits pitcher, 2nd bseman makes play and runner is called out at 1st.1B is actually off the bag. Time is called while pitcher is being looked at 1B ump talks to Home plate ump says he made wrong call and then changes and allows runner to go to first. Can he do that? i say NO, once time is called play is over.

Well heres why i think it is.

-if he needed help the driving instructure would have helped

-espn said he wasn't happy with his life.

Lets set our fav baseball teams aside for a moment. I think it is tragic to see an athlete go out like this. The poor man, and I wonder how his family and teammates are feeling right now. Makes me want to shed a tear for him. It is tragic to see an athlete go out in his prime. Only 34 years old, and still had the rest of his life ahead of him.

why is it that no fan can just say that the rival outplayed their team? i am a mets fan. i went through the slump after 2000, i know that we were just plain bad. but for yankees fans to say that the umps were bribed or for redsox fans to say that the other team cheated, you get my point. also, please do not answer this question to tell me that i am unbalanced, and that you are an avid fan and you never did that. also, why do some people laugh at people who are fans for team like the Devil rays. personally, i respected them for sticking up for their team when they were losing.
