We're 7 out of the division and 5 out of the Wildcard. Im leaning towards the wildcard.

And please give some good answers. Not just, " Yes they will, because the Red Sox are the best".

I'll start the ball rolling with Jefffrey Loria of the Marlins. Yes I am a former Expo fan but he'd get my vote anyway for falling out with Joe Girardi who is doing the most with least in MLB.

I'm a season ticket holder, and share tickets 8 ways. I just got my playoff invoice and we get 3 pairs of tickets for the first round, 4 for the second, and 3 for the World Series.

I need a good proposal for divide the tickets up. Thanks!!

Ty Cobb when asked why he thought he'd only bat around .280 against current pitchers when he retired with a .300+ average.
"Because I'm 82 years old you ****ing idiot!"

Does anyone know what the record is for most consecutive ground roll doubles in a single MLB game? Which team?

I don't understand why football coaches wear "regular" clothes on the sidelines while baseball coaches "suit-up" and wear a real baseball uniform. Why do basketball coaches wear suits and ties for a game? Why don't football referees wear helmets? They are always getting knocked around.

Strat-o-matic is a card and dice baseball game. I'm about to create a team, but I need a good team name. Here are the rules with the names:

1. It can't be rude, obscene, etc.
2. It must consist of a city and a team nickname
3. It must be cool
4. It can't have anything to do with baseball (as in, no Sluggers, etc.)
5. The city and the nickname can't start with the same letter
6. It can't be associated with any professional team

The best answer will be chosen (and it will also be the name of my team)

It can't be associated with any professional team

He has made only two errors! He also made only two errors last season, four in 2004, and three in 2003! He must be a truly spectacular defensive first basemen to have made only 11 errors since he's been with the Red Sox!

SAN FRANCISCO - Barry Bonds' personal trainer was held in contempt of court and ordered to return to jail Monday for refusing to testify before a grand jury investigating the Giants slugger for perjury and other charges.

Greg Anderson, who stood before a federal grand jury five times without answering pertinent questions, was held in contempt of court for two weeks last month but was released when the grand jury's term expired.

Anderson could remain behind bars for months or more while a new grand jury investigates.

He served three months in prison and three months of home detention after pleading guilty to steroid distribution and money laundering in the investigation of the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative, which allegedly supplied Bonds and other athletes with performance-enhancing drugs.

Anderson has refused to say whether he gave Bonds steroids.

How exactly, are the Boston Red Sox paying $125M for the team they're fielding right now? Who is making this money? And who's worth what they're making?

Manny is pretty obviously worth his 19M. Schilling is as well, worth the $12.75 he's on the books for. But beyond that... who else was worth this money?

Just for starters:

Matt Clement - $9.75M... an NL 4 starter... at almost $10M a year.
Jason Varitek - $9M and batting what, .240 before his injury?
Mike Lowell - $8M... and fading faster than Boston's wildcard hopes.
Trot Nixon - $7.5M for a guy who's never hit a lefty in his career.
Keith Foulke - $7.25M... and yes, he was worth it at the time, but such a drastic falloff for this guy.
Josh Beckett - Gets a 4 year extension at $10M a season... for what? His ERA is pushing 5. he wins because of the run support, not because he's any good.

And how's that contract extension for Coco Crisp working out? Three more years of him?

Who signed these contracts? Fire him!

This guy came out on fire last year, finishing second in the ROY voting and hitting .300 with 14 homers in under 300 at-bats. This year, he's at an anemic .257/.283/.449, numbers that remind me of something Dave Kingman would do. He's also only drawn 14 walks against his 104 strikeouts.

My question is, will he learn some plate discipline and become a solid contributor, or will he continue being one of the worst regular OFs in the National League? He's only 22, but is he capable of turning things around long-term?
