He has made only two errors! He also made only two errors last season, four in 2004, and three in 2003! He must be a truly spectacular defensive first basemen to have made only 11 errors since he's been with the Red Sox!

PS--For those of you asking if I'm serious, you obviously are missing the point. You obviously have either no sense of humor or are unable to recognize sarcasm when you see it.

Hey,it's hard to win MVP when your team is eating the Yankees' dust!

He would have a better chance to win one if he didn't play as if he was already wearing it..
WOW only 11 errors in the equivalent of 87 games over four years, that's only 20 errors in a 162 game season, BIG Papi is the man! And just to think, he had to borrow a glove to do it.
If it wasn't for the fact that Travis Hafner is so much better Ortiz would be the best DH too...
New award just for David - Most Valuable half a player!
I'm suggesting that we waive the manditory waiting period and just elect BIG Papi to the HOF now, hell he's so great we'll just waive the vote too! 1,000 hits, 200 homeruns, in only ten years, all that and he hits .280 , I mean we are talking the "Dominican Babe Ruth" hahahahahahahahaha

Very possible. Didn't Palmiero win the GG playing only 14 games at first base a few years ago? Forget the MVP. Sox not making the playoffs and crappy papi may not play the rest of the year. Yes, I am a Yankee fan.

It's definitely his to lose. He hasn't made a single error this season, tying him for the league lead. On the downside, he's also tied for last with no assists, no putouts, and no chances, but I think you have to accentuate the positive.
Ortiz sets the standard for defensive play at first base, and he deserves the award.

R. Palmeiro won a gold glove a few years ago while only playing 75 games at 1st base and I thought that was pathetic. If Ortiz wins it, I'll be convinced that it's a meaningless award.

I didn't realize he was that good ,a Gold Glove would certainly sew the MVP up.
