Okay, this is nuts. The mighty Mariners, languishing in last after a 0-11 road trip, win two of three from the Steinbrenners and sweep the Red Sox. The White Sox do a little pounding on the Tigers. who are in a bit of a slump, then get pounded on by Cleveland. The Twins are surging. The Brewers are doing some serious winning. The Reds are real competition for the Cardinals. The Marlins have won seven straight. The Braves are doing barely better than the Mariners. Have things gone insane, or is this just baseball?

Personally, I think it will be the Yankees. They are on a roll late in the season, their pitching has really improved, and... they also have Johnny Damon. What more do you need?

This happend last night in the Seattle - Boston game last night and I could not locate the rule on MLB.com.
Runners on first and second with one out. A ground ball is hit to the shortstop. The runner on second stays on the bag. The shortstop picks up the ball, steps on second and tags the runner going from first to second. That runner is out as a result of a force. The runner originally on second is still standing on second and is tagged by the shortstop, who still has the ball. This runner was called out. Why? The force by the runner from first was removed by stepping on second base.

I do not want your opinion of the teams, I do not care. Just if someone knows the rule, please.

I have been a Cardinals fan since 1985 (I was born in 1978) and have kept up with the team religously. In tonights game against the Cubs (C-ompletely U-seless B-y S-eptember) and I called every pitch that was coming and knew that Pujols needed to single to right to get on. Rolen had a lucky at-bat, but was able to get Pujols over to second. Encarnacion had a horrible at-bat but was able to get on and advance Pujols to third on a heads up play by Albert. Then Miles came up and had a 2-0 count and decided to start swinging at ball 3 and 4 and made contact on a 2-2 count, which caused a forceout at home but his hustle got him to first, which brought up Mr. Clutch as of lately, Bennett. Bennett took the first pitch for a ball. I told the person I was watching the game with that he needs to swing away at the next pitch, because the pitcher will not want to get behind 2-0...and guess what happened next...GRAND SALAMI! I am just wondering what it takes to become a coach in the Majors.

In 1911, the centerfield fence was 403ft and in 1930, 505ft. That's pretty far, even by today's MLB standards.

did anyone else just see the Angels get screwed by the 3rd Base ump?? now usually i would just talk to my friends about it but none of them know anything about baseball, if you and an Angel fan who agrees with me or a Yankee fan who believes that they should only win if its fair please respond.

Please no Yankee fans who believe it was the right call, the instant replay showed it wasnt.

Dang im pissed!!!

Felipe Lopez was the best base stealer on the team & was a decent hitter. Supposedly he couldn't make the "everyday play".
Clayton's already made 10 errors this year
