Personally, I think it will be the Yankees. They are on a roll late in the season, their pitching has really improved, and... they also have Johnny Damon. What more do you need?

If their pitching staff stays healthy, and a certain headcase multi milliornare can start hitting, I would say the yankees.

Gotta go with the Yankees. They have improved pitching, though I'd be surprised if they ever see Pavano pitch again. I'm impressed with their newcomers like Karstens, and would love to see Hughes come up for a start in September. They have NO weak point in their lineup, at this point Arod is their weakest link, and he will eventually heat up. Matsui will be coming back, though I'm not sure about Sheffield. They may lose some games here and there, but when it's crunch time, you know you can depend on the Yanks pulling through. Look at the 5 game sweep in Fenway. Nobody in the NL can beat them in a World Series, Chi-Sox pitching is hurting, and Detroit has been slumping along with zero post-season experience. The only teams I'm worried about are the Twins with their pitching, especially if Liriano makes it back, and the Angels because they always give the Yanks a hard time. Regardless, championship #27 coming up this October.

what?... who exactly is going to make the playoffs for the AL East then, Toronto? They're 8.5 games out and are not exactly looking hot, particularly with Gibbons at the helm picking fights with all of his players.

Mets... they have a great team this year up-and-down the lineup.

They also have alot of depth. Alot of people who aren't Mets fans don't know how good some of their bench players are...

Alot of people make issues about the pitching.... but everybody will be rested and healthy again by playoff time. That means Pedro will be back...

Has any non-Mets fans watched any of their games every day game in and game out??? Their defense is outstanding. I think they're defense is leading the league in putouts. Reyes is quick at shortstop... and some of the plays Wright has made at third are outstanding. LoDuca can actually throw runners out at second.... (sorry Piazza, we loved ya... but couldn't throw anybody out at all!)

The Mets certainly proved they have the offensive power...

And yes, they have the attitude.

GO METS!!!

As a Yankees fan, I would love to say NYY will win, but the Tigers are playing as well as anyone. I think their inexperience will hurt in the long run...

I will take Oakland vs. NYM with the Mets winning it all.

If the Red Sox make the playoffs, they will win it all, but to make that playoffs they would need Varitek back.
