I'm from Boston so I can sympathize, because up until five years ago, my own city was starved for a championship.
But Philadelphia hasn't seen any type of sports championship since Reagan's first term. (Sixers in '83) Since then, let's recap what has happened:
The Sixers lost in 5 games to the Lakers in the '01 Finals.
The Flyers have won the Atlantic division title every other year dating back to 1995, yet they always seem to bow out of the playoffs in the first-round.
The Eagles lost three consecutive conf. championships before finally making it to the Super Bowl in '05, where they lost a close one to the Patriots (a game the Eagles clearly should have won).
As for the Phillies: only one Series title in their history (when Jimmy Carter was still president). And nothing hurts more than losing the ('93) World Series on a walk-off home run.
Red Sox fans: for those of you who like to complain about '03 or '78, try mentioning Joe Carter's name to a Philadelphian.
