If we play the Indians, that means the Wild Card Yankees have to travel to the west coast to play the Halos. Big disadvantage for the Yanks.

But if it's the Angels, that means Mike Scosia's boys have to travel all the way to Boston whereas the Yanks would have a short trip to Cleveland.

The Angels are loaded with talent on paper, but the Tribe has had a solid second-half. Even though we've played well against the Indians this season, they're due to bust out against us. What do you think?

I am not a Red Sox fan, but I think that if they end up with the best record (which is likely), they would be better off playing the Angels first. This year baseball is adding an extra day off between games 4 and 5 (in all division series). The team with the best record will get to decide if they want another extra day off in their series between games 1 and 2 or defer to another series. The extra day off lets you rest your #1 starter sooner for the LCS if you sweep the first round. If the series goes to 5 games you can use your #1 AND #2 starter on full rest. Assuming that the Red Sox would want this extra day off, I think it would be in their best interest to face the Angels since Cleveland has the best 1-2 punch of those teams and perhaps in baseball. I don't think the travel aspect is that big of a deal when compared to who you play in the first round. Especially since I expect the Yankees to lose (pitching wins in the playoffs, or so they say) to either team they would play (so no double cross-country trip), which would mean that Boston would play a team that just finished up at home. It would still be a coast-to-coast trip for the Angels, but just once instead of twice. It doesn't matter how far anybody travels if you get knocked out of the first round. Tell me, would you really want to face C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona for 4 games of a 5-game series?

Selfishly, I would rather the Red Sox face the Indians in the ALDS for two reasons, 1) I can get tickets to Angel Stadium and would rather see them in the ALCS and 2) I think the Angels can beat the Yankees (I enjoyed watching the same in 2002 and 2005 disguised as an Angel fan). Getting the Yankees out of the mix early is a good thing. The Angels are a very good team, but they seem to struggle at Fenway. That is why it is important for the Sox to finish with the best record. To get home field advantage throughout.

Not the Indians....they have perhaps the best 1-2 starters in the league in C.C Sabathia and Fausto Carmona. They also have alot of depth, a good bullpen and are on fire right now. Anyone who faces them in the short 5 game ALDS is going to have trouble. The Angels are a good team also, but lately their bullpen (namely F-Rod) has been less than spectacular. All in all I think the Red Sox have the best team in the postseason. The Yankees are good with alot of offense, but lack the pitching depth needed to win a championship. So if the Red Sox can survive the first round (where the short 5 game series can hurt a powerhouse team like the Red Sox) they have a very good chance of heading to another World Series appearance and winning.

i am a white sox fan and therefore very sad at the moment but if i were the red sox i would rather play the angels. right now cleaveland is HOT. and while the angels are better on paper, i really feel that nothing can beat a team on a roll (i.e. 2005 white sox, 2006 cards)

Tigers have Cabrera, Martinez (heavily, he merits much greater credit than some human beings supply him), Avila, Peralta and Austin Jackson Rangers have Hamilton, Beltre, youthful, Cruz (if he gets healthful), Andrus, Napoli and Kinsler i'm no longer a Yankees or crimson Sox fan, yet while i became into, i could decide on the Rangers in a attempt to out slug them. many human beings think of that the Tigers rotation is Verlander and others, yet extremely, Fister has been beast this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. i'm going to take Verlander/Fister for the playoffs over CJ Wilson/Alexi Ogando... i think of the Rangers have a greater useful lineup, yet i could have confidence the Tigers greater in shutting the DOMINATING Yankees lineup

The Red Sox don't want any part of the Angels. The Angels are a far better team. Whether a Yankee fan said it or someone else, it's a fact of life.

The Indians, their closer is Borowski meaning they cant beat us in a series. The Sox are 6-4 against the Angels so the meathead below is retarded.

I'd much rather see cleveland, neither team worries me much, but I'd prefer my opponents for the next series have to take the coast to coast flights.

Man, that is the best question I have read today. I would say both of them would be really tough teams to beat. I think we'd have a harder time against the Angels.

Man, why did you have to worry me with this question?!
