I would strongly recommend the Ruger 10/22. Very popular and there are a gazillion aftermarket products for it. May cost $10-$20 more but worth every penny. There is a website called rimfire central go on there and look around. You will find that the 10/22 is the most popular. Be safe take an NRA safety course, you would be surprised how foolish some people are with guns. I won't go to the rifle range just before deer season, some hunters are a little to careless for my tastes.

Most people will tell you that the Ruger 10/22 is the industry standard for a good .22. No doubt; they are right.
But, I have a Mossberg Plinkster semi-auto, at Walmart it was $95.00 I think and it is one fantastic .22 for the money. I've never had a misfire and it is much more accurate than I thought. It shoots better than I do. I put a Simmons 22 Mag 3X9/32 scope on it and it really rocks now.
Ruger if you want the benchmark somewhere around $180.00 I think. But, in the lower price bracket, the Plinkster is the way to go.

10/22s are solid rifles, but there isn't a out of the box sporter barrel 10/22 out there can outshoot a semi-auto from either Marlin or Savage.
If you want to make no changes, then I think the Savage or Marlin "brand" is better. That's not to say that you may end up with ruger. It's all a matter of personal preference.
If you want to add another stock, trigger, etc --- then I think the 10/22 is the choice.
I'm at work and can't see which models are in your links.
If you are on a budget and want to scope the gun, a marlin 60 may not be the way to go. With the gun not drilled and tapped, it may require a 60 dollar mount from BKL to hold the zero because marlin 60's reciever grooves have the tendancy to push mounts backwards during recoil. Trigger can be at a horrible 8-10 pounds too.
Nonetheless, I have one and love it.
Do Savage semi-autos have the accutrigger on them yet???
If they did, I think that's the way to go personally.

You would not be doing a bad thing with either of those, my preference being the Marlin.
I would really encourage you to get a Marlin Model 60, in stainless if you can. It is the most produced rifle in the world and exactly like that 795 except that it has the traditional tubular .22 rifle magazine. While the tube mags seems strange at first, you can load and shoot a whole lot faster than those little small capacity detachable magazines.
The best place in the world to read more opinions on this exact topic is Rimfirecentral.com. You will find a discussion section for every .22 rifle made there.

I personally own what would be today a mossberg 702 plinkster .22 semi-auto. However, the manufacturer of mine is magtech, but it is the exact same rifle. I can tell you right now that the mossberg 702 will give the ruger 10/22 a run for it's money. It is just as accurate and reliable as a 10/22, but probably about $40 or $50 cheaper.

The only decent semi-auto .22 LR you are going to get for that price is a used Ruger 10-22 or a Marlin M-60.
The Ruger is the better rifle.

The Ruger 10-.22 really is the way to go.
It's simple and rugged,
and after decades, it's still the standard by which all others are judged in the category of affordable.22 target/hunting/plinking rifles.
The 10-.22 is the second most upgradable rifle I can think of, behind the AR15/M16.
You can take an off-the-rack 10.22 and build it into a fine target rifle yourself with off-the-shelf parts.
You can change the entire profile of the rifle in more ways than you'd ever believe....folding stocks, extended capacity magazines and drums, flash hiders, bullpup stocks,
Cosmetic rebuild kits allow the 10-.22 to be configured as a 2/3 scale MG42 or a Mini AK47 Krinkov made with real AK folding stock grips, and handguards.
As is, it's a classic and foolproof design,
and with literally thousands of compatible ascessories,
It can become exactly the rifle of your dreams.
Don't fret about a few extra bucks...
Find a way to budget it.
You'll be glad you did.

Another vote for the Ruger 10/22 - it's the best value .22 made. Dick's Sporting Goods had them for $159 is last Sunday's paper.

There is nothing better than the Ruger 10/22 rifle. Academy Sporting god stores in my area sell the blue version for $ 180, about $225 for stainless.
