Was it not Jesus who repeatedly spoke of two spiritual families?

In Hebrews the wording is very blunt:

Heb 12:6-8
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
(KJV)

How come somebody who played video games all his life is called schizophrenic after "living in his world" while thousands of people brought up by religion murdered other people in holy wars or intentionally blocked freedom in same wish to help or serve aren't?
If you have a religion that doesn't cause you to harm people, doesn't this bother you?

It simply is not true. I have personally known many who are loving and caring people filled with great dignity and compassion for humanity.
It is clearly not all due to the events of 911, I can remember seeing this attitude beforehand.

Why do you think and why?

or girls as young as 9, Iran has established a system of legalized prostitution, through the practice of "sigheh" or "temporary marriages," by which a mullah arranges a "legal union" between a man and a girl (some as young as nine years old) for a fee. The so-called marriage can last as short as one hour.

It's got to be. How can it be complete if there are so many different contradicitons and interpretations? If God was perfect, why wouldn't his word be? The only explanation for that is that it's incomplete. Creationists believe that they were created by an intelligent and loving God. Atheists believe that their ancestors are monkeys (or at least that they share common ancestor with monkeys)

So, why not leave creationists alone. Let them pine for and worship their God?

On the other hand, let atheists pine for and look for their ancestors?

i went to see it last night. I'm a Roman Catholic and i wanted to see the movie to get my own point of view on it, if it was anti-Christian/Catholic or not. I have to say that the only thing i saw was that they refered to souls as "demons" that's all that my chirstian side noticed. now that side of me that was paying attention to the quality of the movie thought it sucked! omg! it's sad to say but i wanted that kid to die, she was so freaking annoying, i did not like the movie at all!!! who here agrees??

. . .tend to hold up the most extreme examples of another person's religious beliefs as being representative of the entire group? I'm thinking of things like the "Muslim terrorist," the "amoral atheist," or the "fundamentalist Christian" stereotypes.

Is it human nature to find the worst examples of a group and use them to prove your point that "all those worthless (fill in the blank) are like that"?

Or are people's debating and logic skills so weak these days that they have to resort to mud-slinging and generalization to 'prove' their point?

q1) what do you think of the doctrines of the roman catholic church?
q2) why do you use the westcott and hort text, which originates from the roman catholic church, and use it to translate your New world translation?

CAN YOU READ ACTS 8:37 FROM YOUR NEW WORLD TRANSLATION?

Does it mean that the translators of the NWT are all in hell, burning screaming because they broke the very, very last warning? . . . . Rev 22:19 (NWT) and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll.

Lets say prayer works (full disclosure: I don't believe for a minute that it does). But, help me understand this point.

If god is already involved and influencing world events, does prayer convince him to change things from the way they are going?

Was he going to get involved in an event in a certain manner (or not get involved), but the amount of prayer he received changed his mind?

Was he going to allow a person to die, but the amount of "email"/prayer he received convinces him otherwise?

Does he only get involved and change things when "public opinion" is strong enough? What is the threshold for his getting involved?

Really, I don't mean to be trite, but if prayer works is it like lobbying a congressman. Doesn't god already know what he's doing and have a plan. Does he require reminding of certain events - or nagging to get him to act?

Honestly, if god exists, the prayer thing doesn't really make sense does it?

Last year during Ash Wensday like 15 kids in a couple of my classes had ash in the shape of a cross on their foreheads. I was curious and asked them why. I was shocked when none of them knew. They all shuggred their shoulders and were like we dont know. They told me that they just did this because everyone else did it at their church. I couldnt believe what I was hearing. I would never do anything if I did not know what it meant or stood for. I mean were in college shouldnt they be asking questions? Are they just not paying attention at church? What is the point of going then if you dont pay attention or dont know the meaning of anything? I know this is extreme but what if ashes on your forehead had some racists horrible meaning to it? So catholics why do you put ashes on your foreheads? What does it mean or stand for? Thanks.

When does a persons quality of life superceede a religious belief?
Do you feel a person should suffer and then die when it's their time?

We put our pets out of misery when they are in pain.
Why not do that for others that are suffering.....they can't eat, sleep, or even think clearly because of the pain.
