Creationists believe that they were created by an intelligent and loving God. Atheists believe that their ancestors are monkeys (or at least that they share common ancestor with monkeys)

So, why not leave creationists alone. Let them pine for and worship their God?

On the other hand, let atheists pine for and look for their ancestors?

Now, wouldn't it be a miracle, if each side would just leave off insulting and belittling the other?
Even more of a miracle if each side could be content to allow our kids to choose for themselves what they believe.
And that is the real issue.
Atheists, or should I say "Evolutionists" insist that our children MUST be taught nothing BUT evolution, with no hint whatsoever at all that there even might be a Mind behind it.
Creationists want the kids to be taught that God spoke everything into existence, and refuse to consider that evolution could be a tool He may have used.
Both sides are quite stubborn and incredibly foolish...and I suspect our kids realize just how stupid we are, when we argue over such things as this.
And, at the end of the day, we cannot really control their little minds, anyhow. They will believe what they decide to believe, no matter whether we like it or not.

Woohoo!!!
I love these questions, even if yours is a rant, and not an actual question.

"Creationists & Atheists: why not leave each other alone?"

-Dunno, why? Oppsites attract? Weird dark desires? Tell me...tell me!

"Creationists believe that they were created by an intelligent and loving God. "

-Guess we don't have to guess what you are ;)

"Atheists believe that their ancestors are monkeys (or at least that they share common ancestor with monkeys)"

-Apes dewd, apes... they're like monkeys but bigger.. you know? Gorillas and chimpanzees.. that kind? Not too far off, at least you got the ancestors thing right, tho I would've appreaciated "Loving and caring ancestors"... btw, evolution doesn't really equate to atheism. It's pretty common, but it's not a requirement...

Guess if we needed more proof of your views on the issue, we just got it :)

"So, why not leave creationists alone."

-Have you read any of the posts here? Do a quick count, and tell me who's on whose case? It's the cretinist types that keep asking it again and again. Are you really suggesting that us poor atheists that do think evolution is right, should just go away and let the other guys run the place?

Would you also like us to let them...nah, Let's be honest here, let YOU people spew your religious nonsense at the schools? Would that be the kind of "leaving you alone" that you want?

"Let them pine for and worship their God?"

-If only that was all they did, they want us to do it too. And we're not playing their game.

"On the other hand, let atheists pine for and look for their ancestors?"

-Umm, we don't really pine for ancestors... that sounds a bit illegal, pining after a cousin is bad enough...especially since the ancestors are pretty much millions of years dead by now. Nor do we look for them... Mostly us atheists spend our time not collecting stamps.

Surprisingly few of us are evolutionary biologists, or paleonthologists :)

—because Creationists will not keep their lunacy to themselves. Religious and political conservatives want to take away the personal rights and freedoms of all Americans. Fundamentalist Christians in the US have a long history of attacking the Constitution so that they can force their beliefs and lifestyle upon every American. They have been trying to amend and rewrite the US Constitution since 1863:

-----
•“We, the People of the United States [recognizing the being and attributes of Almighty God, the Divine Authority of the Holy Scriptures, the law of God as the paramount rule, and Jesus, the Messiah, the Savior and Lord of all], in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquillity, provide for the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and to our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
http://candst.tripod.com/chrsamnd.htm
------

They hate the fact that there is not a single mention of God, Jesus, or Christianity anywhere in the US Constitution; because the Founding Fathers voted God out, intentionally. The democratic republic they created was the first 100% secular government in human history. The following was unanimously passed by the 1797 US Congress and signed into law by President John Adams:

•“As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion, …”

http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/diplomacy/barbary/bar1796t.htm

Conservatives think so little of the Constitution that they want to amend it to deal with every little non-issue that they object to, like gay marriage and flag burning, while they oppose any amendment guaranteeing equal rights to all Americans. They want to expel science from being taught in our public schools and replace it with the folktales and mythological stories of quasi-historic tribes of illiterate Semitic goat herders who lived thousands of years ago and who thought that the earth was flat and the night sky was a dome with little lights provided by their God.

The real threat to America (far more than a bunch of pissed-off Muslims) are those conservatives who want to re-write the US Constitution in an attempt to overturn America’s secular democratic republic so they can replace it with a theocratic-based fascist government based on the humanity– and America–hating doctrine of their Old Testament God.

And, if not for America’s secular rule of law, they would behave exactly like their radical Islamic cousins. Both groups believe (and have the historical pedigrees to prove) in conversion through genocide and see no inconsistency in murdering, raping, torturing, barbequing, and hacking-off body parts as a means to spread their spiritual messages of unconditional love and goodness. The conservative faithful of both religions are fearful and ignorant humanity-hating sociopaths.

I agree: let's leave Creationists alone... Somewhere, on an uninhabited tiny island in the middle of Pacific

It's same with the Mormon cult and Christians. You just can't help taking jabs at each other. Especially when everyone knows that the Mormon church is a cult.

Basically ANYONE with more than 3 brain cells irrespective of colour, creed, religion or sexual orientation is entitled, nay duty-bound, to have a dig at creationists! Get real guys!

Atheists DO NOT believe that they share a common ancestor with the apes. They KNOW this to be true because of piles upon mountains of testable, provable EVIDENCE.
You should look that word up, evidence.

As far as I'm concerned the Creationists can believe anything they want.

I'll leave them alone when they stop trying to sneak Creationism and Intelligent Design into public schools.

We go through this at least five times a week. How often do you see "evolutionists" with questions directed at Creationists? You see them, but not as often as the stupid "Atheists, I've disproved evolution," and crap like that.

They started it.

And ATHEISM and EVOLUTION are NOT synonymous.

I'd be happy to leave Creationists alone if they did not try to legislate their beliefs. But when they try to ban the teaching of evolution in schools, I have to stand up to them.

So should you.
