My step-dad's family is mostly Catholic, and my mom's family is mostly Lutheran. However, Years ago I joined the LDS Church and got involved with it. Now, I'm finally out. My question is to understand some of the differences. Are there the same kind of requirements to treating the Pope as there are LDS Prophet? Are the Catholic standards important for salvation. Can you be a good Catholic if you disagree with the Pope's teachings?

I was wondering, If God has no need of human companionship, but only desires our love and worship. And knew that millions (billions?) would be allowed to suffer and die only to get a small fraction of them. And KNOWING That this would happen. Isn't that a rather HIGH FAILURE RATE? I Know You'll Say It's Not HIS Failure. But,He Did KNOW This Would Happen, So He IS Culpable. So If This Is All Just To Satisfy A Desire, Doesn't that seem a bit selfish on his part? Why even create us at all?

I know their beliefs differ but what are some of the more observable differences among these religions? Catholics, Christians, Protestants, Methodists, and Baptists?

And are the Catholics the only one that provides confessions?

What exactly is a true Christian? Isn't a "true" Christian someone who has accepted Christ as his/her savior? Or are there more requirements than that?

I just see Christians fighting amongst themselves about what a "true" or "real" Christian is and it baffles me. Please enlighten me.

Hindu, agnostic, atheist...

This is purely hypothetical and just for fun so please don't say not possible. It's just a hypothetical question.

They seem to be obsessed with bashing false doctrines, but they seem like a false doctrine themselves, especially how they say people like other christian sects will go to hell for not having the correct theological understanding of salvation even if their object of faith is Jesus. some of the information has a point, but most it just seems excessive and overdramatized with gory images and sound effecs for shock value rather than to help people. And isn't it weird that a fundamentalist website would be promoting 911 conspiracy theories, because weren't the conspiracy theories a leftist creation to discredit the religious right.

some people talked about the similarities between mormonism and Islam or Mohammed and J. Smith. but I read once that mormons believe that Mormons do believe in Mohammed as a prophet sent by God to guide people partially to the correct faith while Joseph Smith will complete that task! is this true that Mormons believe in Mohammed ?

Merry Christmas,

I had a post on my last question which spoke about becoming baptised and while I am not agaist the idea I just wanted to ask a question?

Do you have to be baptised to get to heavan? If so, what about people who have never heard to word of Christ, or people who were brought up in a different religion? Or people brainwashed with science? What if they were good people and didnt sin much and helped others in the way of Christ?

What if someone would have found God, but was taken before they had a chance to find God in this life?

I can't believe our all loving God would hold these disadvantages against us. Surely if we are pure in our hearts, God will take us in, regardless of our misguided thoughts.

Comments welcome.

Godd Bless You.

The following is from a question I asked last week.
============================
I've seen everything from Buddhism to fossils attributed to Satan. Satan's domains, I take it, are skepticism, pleasure, and anarchy.

God, on the other hand, is supposed to be the creator of the universe. His domains are blind faith, asceticism, and servitude.
============================

One answerer claimed that this was inaccurate; that my portrayal of God as the God of faith, humility, and servitude was an incorrect one, intentionally created by a patriarchal society in order to benefit the elite and subvert the common man. My gut reaction is that this doesn't follow most interpretations of the Bible, but maybe I'm wrong.

In your eyes, does God encourage skepticism, pleasure, and freedom? Or does he demand servitude, faith, and self-denial of earthly pleasure?

1. I think every person on earth is unique and special -- including atheists and gays.

2. I believe in evolution -- which also means I believe I that dinosaurs existed before mankind came along.

3. I believe God works in mysterious ways -- so mysterious that we can't even begin to fathom.

4. I believe that my preacher is human, and thus subject to error. (This doesn't make him bad... just human - like you).

5. I believe this quote to be wrong. "One definate way to prove that we are just a half chromosome away from being chimps is to look at our religious practices" - Christopher Hitchens.

I'm not trying to be mean, I just can't get my head around the idea that people still belive this stuff.

In this day and age people still believe in a magic man in the sky? They reject science, yet they take medicine, wear artifical fabrics, and look at pictures and writing over a computer network?

Are they all lying, and actually know better?

What's the motive?

Sometimes I hear Christians say that Dec 25 is not date that christ was born. If thats not the date then when is it? I`m confused since all of the pagan historical evidence points towards Dec 25. All of the Sun Gods were born on this date. Horus, Dioynisus (spelling?), Krishna, Mirtha, and Jesus Christ....right?

If you can`t tell me what day Jesus was born then how can you say that it was not Dec 25? What makes this one date more improbable than the other 364 days in the year?

A question was asked a short time ago and people said that girls couldn't get the pill without a prescription. If girls go to the health center at many high schools and now this jr. high school, they are able to get the pill without parental notification. The parents have to consent to the girl using the health center services but the health center does not have to disclose what specific services the girl receives.

I work with teenage mothers and I completely understand the need for sex education and access to reliable protection. However, I don't like the idea of an 11 year old being able to put a medication into her body without her parents knowledge.

What age do most of you feel a girl should be able to independently obtain the pill?

i just realized that a Christian raised in a Christian household will be Christian... because that is how they grew up.
same thing for Muslim, Hinduism, etc.
and i also just realized that the only reason why i believe in Christianity is because my mother believes in it. and i need to believe in it for me.
but i dont have the faith.

Jesus makes 20 and God wants to make him a present. He reminds that his son never had a sexual relation and gives him the best whore he could find. Jesus goes with here in a room:
- Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Terrible sounds come from that room. God goes in to see what’s happening and sees the girl crying and asks:

- Son, what did you do to her?
- Nothing bad daddy, I saw she has a wound between her legs and...
- AND!?!?
- And, I cured it!

...arn't their congregations clean? I believe they have the nasty habit of helping evil conquer good. Then hush it up.
Am I under a false impression that "love conquers all things". If God calls what they do love he can keep it.
