This is what the verse says: work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

Do you feel you have to work out your own salvation? This is a false teaching. Have you ever read the next verse to this?
for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)

not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:5-7)

It just occured to me that all of the Christmas presents I have so far received and the majority I will be giving are alcoholic, and while I am an atheist and don't really care (they have been/ will be appreciated...), I was curious as to whether this may be considered inappropriate.

Well I'm fifteen and I want a ring to symbolize my respect for my body and my soul. But I don't think I should get a purity ring because I believe you should wait until your in a mature relationship with someone you love and care about and your sure that you can deal with the consequences of sex when you loose your virginity. But I don't neccisarily believe that I should wait until marriage. Any suggestions for what I should get?

And please dont be mean!
:)

Shouldn't she be taught that she's not suppose to be getting them in the first place? What message is she sending? And the government who is providing these pills? Can religion promote or denounce her will to even ask for pills? Or is a 9 year able to decide? Can this be a new culture which US is fine with?

1. I'm here for the same reason as rocks and insects and saline solutions of the oceans -- I'm a product of the natural universe.

2. I'm here by Divine design which I can sometimes influence by prayer.

3. I have no idea why I'm here.

cover her heavily pregnant self as she traveled to Bethlehem? After all, even though she and Joseph were in on the deal, no one else was. She did not want to be attacked for being a "fallen woman", which people in those times were real big on doing. So is it possible that Jesus' mama, just for the trip, disguised herself head to toe with a burqua? Its for sure that no one could have figured out who she was. Of course it is true that the Lord went along for the ride. Still, come to think of it, might the donkey have been veiled as well? Just as a precaution? Somehow I keep flashing on the "Shrek" donkey! Believers, what say you? I say: MERRY CHRISTMAS!

How come you say you believe in god but you don't believe he can do all the things he says he can do?You say you believe he rose Lazurus from the dead, he healed the blind, he rose the Red Sea.How come God isn't doing anything equally as amazing today?Our loved ones aren't coming back from the dead and when's the last time you seen the red sea raised?If you believe in God then you must also be congruent in believe in the acts he's done.If you really believed he did those things you'd still believe and see that today.And faith is not the evidence of things unseen..it's the evidence of things seen.

Considering 2 Timothy 3:16, which says: "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness", please provide scriptural justification for condoning homosexual activities within the church in light of other scriptures such as Romans 1:27 and Leviticus 18:22 which clearly condemn homosexual acts. Scriptural justification only please! Opinions don't trump Bible commands!

If you are Atheist, Humanist or Existentialist you presumably wish well for others. If you are Monotheist, Pantheist, Buddhist, Taoist or Pagan, you presumably pray for the welfare of others.
Can you think of a common wish/prayer/aspriration/affirmation that we could all agree on?
